Will Saab 9-2x side skirts fit our cars?

I have a '04 WRX and I'm sick of my black one?
| CalcVictim | 05-10-2004 09:49 PM |
they sell painted ones for your car, or you can paint them yourself. Direction are at scoobymods
| pjdwrx | 05-10-2004 09:58 PM |
You should also check around locally to see if there are any body shops that can do it for you. Don't pay more that $100 - $150 tops.

LOL no one answered the question...
I'm assuming that since Subaru is making them the holes probably line up.
I'm sure you could make them fit with some self tapping screws!

The car isn't really out yet and I'm sure the people who will buy this car won't be modding them as often as we mod our cars.
I think it'd be safe to say that they will fit since it's the same bodyside between both cars.
I'll be going to my local Saab dealer to atleast look @ one. Definitely not in the market for one but I'm curious none the less...

Subaru is only making the engine, not the whole car IIRC.

Nope....The car is all FHI but tweaked by Saab.
| Call_me_Tom | 05-11-2004 06:09 PM |
The car is made by Subaru with a Saab front end and interior changes. To answer the question it would be yes. Almost every thing should match up just fine.
| fobert | 05-11-2004 06:35 PM |
does anyone think 02-03 wrx will match up with the new 9-2X??
| Call_me_Tom | 05-11-2004 06:54 PM |
I don't see why not there are only minor differences between the '02-03 and the '04 and there are only minor differences between the '05/9-2x.

I just saw one of these driving around in the Detroit area a few days ago... is it out yet? General Motors owns Saab, so I wasn't sure if it was a company car or a customer car.
It would be nice to get some of the interior bits too. :)
/me wonders who will be the first to drop an STi 2.5L engine into a Saab. LOL

their sides skirts are much hotter than painted stock wrx sides. I want!
| Akarui | 05-16-2004 10:53 PM |
sabb optioned 2 engines from subaru for that car they anounced it at the detriot auto show the ej20t and the ej25t so i can assume that they will be selling a STi powered SAAB but they really didn't talk abou it much not sure why?
| mykrrrr | 05-17-2004 10:11 AM |
Those cars in DTW might just be pre-production ones. I don't believe they're out just yet. Look for the MFG plates.
When did Saab announce they're going to be using the EJ257 (isn't that what it's called???) I read that they're using the EJ20 and the EJ25 NA motor.
The Saabaru is being built on the same assembly line in JPN as the rest of the Impreza line. Too expensive to set up an assembly line for one model.

You may have to cut off the stock black piece at the back wheel arch's beginning, as the sideskirt seems to incorporate that part.

Or maybe it doesn't, i have bad eyes

| elijah25rs | 05-17-2004 10:00 PM |
wagon and sedan skirts should be interchangable iirc

Is it just me or do those front brakes look bigger (dia.)
Those look like 17in rims and they fill them out nicely

what is the point of that little black piece on our cars? it seems to be pretty useless. why didn't Subaru just leave that area painted like the rest of the car and not have that overhanging black plastic?

Not sure how many of them will fit based on what they've done to the console though...

Even if they did bolt up - and it looks like you'll have to do some work on them - they'd have to be painted too...
| SonicYelloWRX | 05-23-2004 12:22 PM |
The interior is the same as the 05 STI and it's ugly, don't know why you'd want it.

unfotuneatly they won't fit. they are boxier than they are on the subaru. the bumper and rear hatch are designed differently
sucks too. cause they look better

Looks to me like the sideskirts are shaped to the Saab fenders. At the front of the skirt there's about a 5" high piece that the Subaru doesn't have.

i'd be leary to say the sideskirts would fit a sedan.... the liner piece going up the front fender doesn't look like it'd work with the flared fenders. Don't see any reason why it wouldn't fit the wagon though.
also.. there seems to be a lot of misinformation in here (though this thread is from May)
FHI is building the entire car in Gunma Japan (where our imprezas are built)
same chassis, virtually the same body minus work to the front end.
Saab licensed 2 engines .. that's correct, cept it's a 2.5 NA not a 2.5T and of course the 2.0T.
The interior is identical to an 05 WRX except in color and optional leather trim.

Sorry to resurrect this post...but people on this thread may not have received their answer yet. I have tried it. Would probably take less modification on a wagon than a sedan, but it can be done:
