Will Schuy make it #6?

Suzuka will be the deciding factor.
MS just needs to score in the points and Kimi needs to win. (from what I remember)
Will Fangio's record be broken??!!
Folks, we are living in a time where this record may fall. Whattya think?

Im not as anti-Schumacher as a lot of people, but i would rather Kimi win. I dont think he will though.
Schumi needs a ninth or higher finish (lets face it, a DNF) and Kimi needs a win (i think). Individually, these are both not very likely. It could happen, and good luck to Kimi.
Its still gonna be exciting, which reminds me: someone buy me Speed Channel.

In my opinion, he already has it wrapped up, it's just not official. I find it very unlikely that Schui will DNF *AND* Kimi win. One or the other, but not both.
Andy, feel free to stop by and watch some speed at my apt :)

I think it's pretty inevitable that Schumacher (sp?) will chalk up another one, at least that's how it looks to me at this point. :)

My guess is we are due for a bit of a surprise. But we'll just have to wait and see, won't we? ;)

There is no doubt that he will win. Kimi can only wish for a backmarker to take him out going into a turn.
| johnfelstead | 10-01-2003 06:48 PM |
we just need DC doing his dozey best to take MS out by mistake and Kimi to win, not such a great deal to ask. ;):D:lol:
MS will win, very unlikely not to now.

Schumacher will make it #6, forever solidifying his position as perhaps one of the greatest drivers ever to live. He'll be up there in the company of motorsport gods...if you dont already consider him to be one. 6 world championships is quite the feat. Im not sure we'll see someone do that again.

I am so with you on that. Kimi was my pick I sent to Autoweek a couple months ago for a poll. I don't totally hate MS either. I just get sick of seeing the same people win.(I say that until Solberg is kicking everyone's ass!) At least it wasn't a washout like last year. That made for a boring 2nd half.
Go Kimi!!!

How about this scenario...Michael gets taken out (by JPM, DC, or Alonso) and Rubens wins to ensure MS is champion...but where does that leave the constructor's championship?
Either way, MS will be champion

I am so excited about the race!
I didn't even realize how much of a Schumacher fan I was until he started losing races this year. The US GP was more memorable for me than team Canada (mens hockey of course) winning the gold medal at the last Olympics, and it was not even the final race yet!
Kimi is my age and I couldn't imagine the pressure he will be facing on his one qualifying lap. The whole world will be watching to see if he's got what it takes to rob Michael of his 6th title.
Godspeed Michael! (pun intended :p)

Heck yeah, Schumacher will win no. 6. I was watching the race on the tube in France (in our apartment, thank the stars, so I could cheer for the German :D ), and he drove an amazing race, coming through under the most unbelievable pressure.
The advantage of the Bridgestone intermediates helped, but hey, Michelin has been riding on the advantage of their tires all season, so why not let B-Stone have a shot? He was going so fast, in those rotten conditions. Unreal. He's the best driver in F1, and without question one of the best ever. He has the most wins, most pole positions, most podiums, pretty much most every significant statistical record for driver excellence, in not a comparably high number of starts. Truly, truly impressive.
For the also very impressive Mr. Raikkonen to win the title, he has to win the race, and Schumacher has to score no points, which means a finish of ninth or worse. Given that Schumacher/Ferrari have excelled at Suzuka for the last four years or so, that seems unlikely to occur.
Raikkonen drove one heck of a race at Indy as well, driving as if his championship hopes depended upon it, for they did. Button's retirement helped him a lot, though I think he would have passed the BAR just as he did the Saubers. He is a champion of the future, make no mistake about it, probably before Montoya.
Speaking of, his move on Barrichello was ridiculous. He should have gotten a drive-through, and Barrichello should have bopped him upside his head. There's hard racing, and there's just boneheadedness. I think that JPM was feeling the pressure, where Raikkonen wasn't...or might have been, but didn' succumb.
Schumacher clearly performed the best under pressure. His start was remarkable, as was the race. As far as Coulthard trying to take him out, don't forget that the big ol' black mark on the sidepod of Schumacher's Ferrari came from Coulthard's Michelin.
He will win number six, and will take (IMHO) his rightful place as one of the greatest drivers ever. Can't wait.
Kevin

That's a little harsh...I was a Ferrari fan before Schuey (quite a dry spell) and I will be long after he retires (with a handful of records that won't be touched for years).

FORZA FERRARI!
FORZA SCHUMI!
EDIT: he does have good suzuka record: he's won there five time!

Both.
He only needs to finish 8th to win the championship, but he's prob gonna win the race anyway.
