Scooby South 08-20-2001 04:24 AM

Uhhhhhhhhh...Wings West is making Scooby Stuff

Thats right...on their New additions pagef....they have a Ver 5 copy....a stock lowboy spoiler and a New WRX wing...that Renick Motorsports is sporting...similar to a RB5 wing(prodrive)....Does this mean we have hit the big time????...I don't know......Wings West

Anyone had any experiance w/ wings west products?
suby ej25 08-20-2001 11:35 AM

their urethane body kits are great....my boy got into an accident...the rear bumper got hit pretty hard.....the urethane just popped back out and the only damage was the paint coming off
edkwon 08-20-2001 11:46 AM

That actually looks like an imitation 22B wing, but details details, if its cheaper, i don't care :)

oh my god i love this wing
im thinking now i might get the wrx without a wing so i can do this
dRu18 08-20-2001 12:14 PM

well i guess wings west had it a while ago because when i talked to AFS Motorsports, they said they could get a replica 22b wing w/a LED from them for 500.. and looky now.. :)
Star*Child 08-20-2001 01:50 PM

I think I'm the first with this new WRX wing from Renick Motorsports/WingsWest. Check out this thread for pics of my car...

Their stuff is relaively cheap I think (Pricewise). My friend has a Golf and they make a real nice kit for it for like $600
Conduit 08-20-2001 03:44 PM

I'd love to see them have an original idea. Other than that, few complaints about WW.
ODoyle1711 08-20-2001 05:29 PM

what do u mean about a original idea? i dont see alot of things that look like the jettas running around, eurovan is first van with traction control and a whole bunch of other stuff, passats are a lil more normal looking, but because there not bold and tempting doesnt mean there not original , the golf does nto have alot of cars that look like it, the protege 5 kinda looks like it but the golf was out about 8 years before the protege was, and the new bettle? oh yeah all the car companies have cars that look like that... and how many cars have a built in flower holder? hehe vw has alot of orginal cars buddy
ForceFed4 08-20-2001 05:38 PM

He's not talking about VW!

He said WW- Wings West, not Volkswagen. Wings West's kits/spoilers are almost always reproductions of other manufacturers kits, so that's what he's commenting on. On the other hand, they're a lot cheaper too...
Akirasoft 08-20-2001 05:59 PM

that really is one nice looking WRX wing.
DirtDevil 08-20-2001 08:09 PM

Ok am I the only retard here?

Ok am I the only retard here? Or did anyone else notice that the WRX wing is a Replica Prodrive RB5 wing taylored to fit the WRX!!!!!!! Now look closely to the design!! IT is It is!! My god... So how come they haven't made one for the GC8? Damn them!!!
db97 08-21-2001 10:51 AM

yes dirt devil...

you are the only retard here...j/k

no, you're right...that is the prodrive wing. there's nothing new about this wing at all. it's still to damn big (IMHO). doesn't anyone make a wing that isn't so "battlestar galactica-ish".

Hey, watch it with Battlestar Gallactica!

I love that show, specially their "NOS" button. What was it, Turbo?

Hehe

Too bad it doesn't look more like the WRC wing, and that it doesn't have the brake light and adjustability of some of the other wings available (not that I expect it to do much for handling, but it is neat). It does look good, though, and if it is cheaper than the others it might be a good buy.

The WRX wing is actually a copy of the scoobysport wing which is made partially of carbonfiber and has a brake light.
WRX02CRH 08-21-2001 03:47 PM

anyone know if that wing will work with the stock wing holes?
Star*Child 08-21-2001 03:50 PM

It does not. BUT, check out the original thread. Brett (Renick Motorsports) has said that he can get a new trunklid for you for $200. Check out the link above for the thread in the vendor forum. :)
NoSaabs 08-21-2001 04:20 PM

ok...so here's a tough one...i guess

does anyone make a wing that fits in the stock wing's holes, plus is cf w/ a brake light?

i saw one on that pic of the SRP WRX (not sure if it has the light) but i def. fell in love with that wing....
18hrwrx 08-22-2001 02:01 PM

I've got to get me one of those.
IMPREZA GUY 08-22-2001 11:18 PM

the wing that the red WRX had was the WW wing
NoSaabs 08-23-2001 10:02 AM

it is? but i didn't see CF on the WW wing. i wonder if we're talking about the same SRP WRX...i'll go try and find a pic...
NoSaabs 08-23-2001 11:12 AM

here it is!

i know Dave TS doesn't like people posting pics of his car, but let me just say: that thing is beautiful. and personally, i'd love to have people drooling on my car like i drool on your car. i'd be flattered actually! take pride, and enjoy the compliments!

anyways, that's the wing i want...but man i hope it fits the stock holes.
SKroWL 08-23-2001 01:17 PM

Don't overlook the details...

The Wings West wing is plastic... err... I mean fiberglass.

The Scooby sport has fiberglass sides and the cross piece is carbon fiber.

If you're getting a wing just for looks, maybe the Wings West will pass... but if you're serious about downforce performance, you need to think twice.

Then again, if you don't know the difference between fiberglass and carbon fiber, the Wings West is probably just right for you :D
D-Code06Impreza 08-23-2001 09:05 PM

they need to make urethane body kits for us....i might call them for that.
