Thought I'd lighten it up a bit so people can see it better. Nice job by the way, I'm getting the same phone (well, kinda close, 3360) and need to find a decent pic.

Cool thanks, my mom's digicam sucks, I don't even think it's 2 megapixels:D Logo should work for a 3390, not sure about 3360's though.

www.zingy.com u can get ringtones from there too! :D
| bdowell | 01-16-2002 09:52 PM |
Zingy.com does not offer Operator logos as of now. They only do Group logos. I got this from www.boltblue.com. Zingy does have some cool rings though.

is that a nokia 8260 or 8290 model? :)
| Ikonosin | 01-16-2002 10:31 PM |
I'd guess 8290 based on looks alone.

One thing you can do is, design the image on the computer, print it on transparency paper, then disassemble the phone put the trasn. paper over the display and put it back together. Is that confusing? :D Its so much simpler now that you can just DL the images I guess

No prob!
www.totalgsm.net also has alot of ringtones also, but they cannot send them out via SMS, you have to have a Nokia that has a built in composer and you just key in the ring sequence (if that makes any sense:D) Gotta love GSM phones ;)

I made a screensaver logo thingy for my friend that has the WRX badge. He has a 3390. I made my own 'subaru impreza 2.5RS' logo for myself on my 3390. on my older phones (5190 and 6190) i had my same impreza logo AND an actual pic of my car in the background. i just printed it on a transparancy, cut it, then stuck it behind my LCD screen. :D I'll take pics later and post it up.

I have a 3360 phone and it doesn't do graphics, only ringtones. :(
I'm sure someone will hack it eventually though.

GSM carriers pretty much have logos on lock down since their phones (Nokia's mainly) are the only ones that support/utilize Operator logos. Whenever you travel with a GSM phone and start roaming, instead of the phone just saying "Roaming" on the screen to let you know you are no longer with your home carrier, they show the Operator's name (Company) you are currently roaming on/using. Different companies can design different logos and the will be visible on your phone. Basically whenever you download a logo, you are renaming your home carrier. So instead of my phone saying "Cingular" on the screen, it "says" WRX now, but when I travel, the WRX goes away and it will say "Powertel" because of Powertels logo. Hope that makes sense to you, long explaintion:D

Daios, would you please share with me, how you got that Killer, blue display and keys:eek:? I just noticed it was a 3390! Wonder if I can get a 8290 done like that? Might just have to pick me up a 3390 now, actually been waiting on the 3395, but I gotta have that blue if I switch! thanks!

you have to change the leds which requires soldering and will void your warranty. there are places you can get it done (around $20 for changing the leds and an additional $20 for the leds themselves). its not too hard of a job if you have soldering experience, but if you dont, i recommend you not try it yourself since the soldering pads and leds are tiny as hell and its very easy to damage the phone.
edit: you can get the leds swapped on practically any nokia. so if you really want the 3395, just wait. the 3395 is just a 3390 with wap though. nobody really knows when they're coming out too (was supposed to be this month the last i heard) and all the service providers i talked about have no idea about the phone. same with the 8390 (which may have had reception problems resulting in a delayed release, but i havent confirmed this yet)

Not really worried about warranty problems, since I run 2 Cingular stores, I'm sure I won't have any problems finding a phone :D;) The 3395 was delayed by Nokia so they could work out the WAP bugs, but should be here within the next month or so. I can take phones apart and swap out bad parts, but I don't think I could ever solder on one. I guess since I got access to a couple hundred of them, I could try though:lol: Anybody know where I can get the LED's?
| Daios | 01-29-2002 02:49 PM |
I actually have bright white LEDs on my 3390. It looks more grey-ish white on the screen and if you take the face off it looks white-white with a little yellow. I got my LEDs from eBay and soldered it myself. If you don't have experience soldering, then I don't suggest doing this yourself, like what nqwan said. theres 2 LEDs that are kinda hard to get to. You would either have to cut the 'cage', de-solder the cage off, or what i did.. use a superfine low-wattage soldering iron to get to the LEDs. theres instructions somewhere on the web about them. use yahoo or something to do a search. the 3390's use a different type of LED while all the rest of the nokias use the same LEDs. my 5190 also has white LEDs (doesn't look as good as my 3390) and my 6190 has the brightest blue LEDs.

i got a nokia 8290 with white lights on the screen. and blue lights on the number pad.
i printed a pic of the wrx on a sheet of transparency, and put it under the screen.
how do you folk put it behind the screen?
