05 tails or 06 tails on a new Impreza?

I should be getting my 06 Impreza 2.5i on wednesday. Its obsidian black pearl. I actually think the 06 tails look ok with the color of the car being black...not so good on other color impreza's though. What does everyone think? Should I keep the 06 tail lights or try and find some 05's? I think the 05 tail lights would make the car look alot cleaner.

06 tails on the black looks really bad I think. Get some 04-05's on there you will be much happier...I am! wrb, cgm, aspen white looks good though.

I'm usually not one to say "Do this" or "Do that", but I really think that your car would look much better with some 05 tails.
I'm currently thinking about getting some but I got to find out some other problems with my car first.

Some people like it, some people don't, but I think your tails would look nice smoked, especially on OBP.
If you don't want to go that route, though, then definitely try to find someone who wants to trade you their '05s.

When the 04's came out, everyone wanted to get the 02/03 style, and now that the 06's are out, the "in" thing is the 04/05 tails. Funny how things go here...

i think 04/05 tails look better on black. strangely, i like 06 tails on white. i'd probably swap my 05 tails for 06, although i read there's some trimming to do on the bulb holes for the wagon tails, which i don't want to do.

that sucks, i traded even with a guy my 06 for his 05, $0.00 out of pocket.

I would love to trade tail lights with somone! I have an 04 Outback Sport here in Seattle and I'd love to set up a trade either local or cross country. Here's a picture of some 04 OBS tails (I admit this isn't my car, but I don't have my own pictures available here at work)

Eh, I never really liked the way the white portion slants up too much, and the circular protrusion cutting into the bumper (makes it look like it was an accident). Also, I don't like how the lights are wider and hide the rear fender flares when viewed from behind. The "clearer" look of the 04/05's is nice though.
Then again I never really liked the 04/05 exterior overall - they shoulda stuck with the 02/03 look for a few more years and freshened it up with more aggressive finishing touches - it might've caught on.

The 06 tails on a obp wrx looks really good if they are smoked, if you don't want to go smoked then go with the 04/05 tails.

I agree OBP looks better w/ 05's. I traded my 05's for 06's. I have wrb and think the 06's look great on my car but not on black.

id go with the 05's. ive been trying to find 05's for mine but noone wants to trade. im thinking about just buying a whole replacement set from subarugenuineparts.com for like 280 down the road if i cant find someone to trade with.

don't spend money on these tail lights. do an even trade for someone. you just have to be patient (sp?). some people really love the 06 lights and some people love the 04-05's. i have a cgm 2.5i 2006 and nate with an 05 sti loved the 06 lights on his aspen white. we traded and we're both happy. different strokes for different folks.
my advice, don't buy them. why have two sets of tail lights? trade them with someone.

Are the tail lights from the WRX or STi or RS the same? I've seen the smoke kit on ebay...i think with new tails and some new head light bulbs the car would look completley different. Can't wait to get started.

I traded my tails straight up for a set of '04 tails. It was a security guard at the Danbury Mall. She even told me her "shop guy" told her it would cost a lot to do because she would have to mold her bumper to make them fit lol I did it right in front of her with only a needle nose plier. Just remember you have to switch the light and harness in one piece. There is an extra bulb in one of the years and not the other so just unscrew it, unplug it, and swap (bulbs and everything). Takes 10 min to do. I like it so much better. Not to mention all the unnecessary attention I was getting from homo civics trying to race me at lights and on the highway. :lol:
