2 door WRX STi

Anybody ever seen this? Is it photoshopped? Has anybody ever done a 4 to 2 door conversion? What would some of the things that would be involved with a project like this?

you would need a new flux compacitor.

In order to be involved in a project like this you would have to be a ricer with more money than sense.

whoa....no need for the hostility. I do not remotley consider myself a ricer. Just someone who was interested in what kind of body work or structural modifications would be nessecary, and why would turning a WRX into a 2 door make it rice? I mean I've heard about rumors of a WRX coupe for 2006 and if done well I think it would look nice.
| Ahzlon | 05-06-2005 06:54 PM |
i don't think it would look rice IMHO... i would personaly love to see a 2dr WRX or STI... and if subaru made one {doubt it'll happen} i'd seriously consider selling my GC rs
| J Ho | 05-06-2005 07:08 PM |
That's big time photoshop work... look at the rendering...
Besides, why get rid of functionality? I doubt converting 4dr to 2dr would look very good and then itll be a PITA to get in and out of the back seat. Now 2dr from the factory could be a different story...

There were a couple of longs threads when I first saw this pic a long time ago. It would be cool but, it jsut doesn't seem like a WRX to me. Bundle it up and name it something else...like SVX II, lol!

you guys are all talking how you don't think it looks right but most of you i'm sure love the GC RS coupes.........the coupes are way better looking than the sedans. it would be rad to see a sti coupe i don't see why all the raggin like subaru has never made a sick looking coupe.
| Subie Gal | 05-06-2005 09:41 PM |
right!
this coupe is for sissies eh? yah..it looks ugly.. who'd want a 2 door STi...

What wheels are on the GC?
| Starkiller | 05-06-2005 09:59 PM |
I'd buy a coupe WRX in a heartbeat, thats slick looking.
| ranger5oh | 05-06-2005 09:59 PM |
I wish they made that 2 door! It looks sweet as F
| Seranin | 05-06-2005 10:03 PM |
though i'd love to have a coupe for the weight savings and looks, having four doors, especially with kids, is very useful... the fact that it still hauls ass despite the extra weight is nice... :D
| IronMonkeyL255 | 05-06-2005 10:05 PM |
Did anyone else notice in that article that it mentioned a factory FMIC....?

So basically to make a 4 door into a 2 door one would have to mold the back door shut, shave the handles, maybe some rear fender work, move the b-pillar back some????, lengthen the front door a TINY bit, and lengthen all mechanical components in the door as well. Does this sound right? I'm going to automotive school this summer and we're allowed to work on our own cars in class. This project, though expensive, may be fiesable.
| Uncle Scotty | 05-07-2005 01:13 AM |
...this isn't locked YET ???????
| 311grassroots | 05-07-2005 01:26 AM |
Why should it be locked Uncle Scotty? Again my main question is what would be involved in the conversion process. I am very interested in body work, enough so that I'm about to go to school for it. I'm sorry if threads like this have led to useless speculations in the past, this was not my intention. Just wondering what it would take to do it. :)

If the bugeye was two door or hatch, I would had got two pers....ya herd
| silentbob343 | 05-07-2005 05:41 AM |
If you are refering to the above picture they are BBS wheels that came standard on the 22B. Size is 17x8.5 and I don't remember the offset.

Still within the realm of the possible...
move the b-pillar back some????, lengthen the front door a TINY bit, and lengthen all mechanical components in the door as well.
....ooopsie. Do you have any idea at all what moving the B-pillar would entail? I suppose if all you wanted to do was one of those Jesse James Monster Garage 5-day-wonder hack jobs it would be easy enough. But if you actually want to end up with a functional, driveable car that still has a hint of structural integrity then it is another matter. You are basically talking about stripping the skin and many of the mechanical bits off, moving (and fabricating as needed) the center ring structure, then putting it all back together. Major stuff.
Oh - please post pics of the finished project! ;)

A two door version would sell very well in the States and would bring a different look to Subaru again

While that article is probably more reputable than most of the photochop magazines, there isn't any real information in there, except a quote saying that next Impreza will be different. Autoexpress filled in the blanks and made up a bunch of information.
Full_Clip prays to god that the next Impreza isn't a bad selling hatch.
