2002 sti hood scoop opinions wanted

I have a 2002 wrx and I want to put an sti scoop on it. I have looked at a couple of pictures of the 04 sti scoops on a 2002 and I think it looks pretty good. I really wanted to get the 2002 jdm sti scoop, but I don't think it looks that big. Any Pictures or opinions would be helpful. I know this has been posted many times, but one more time won't hurt! Thanks!

Personally, it depends on what other body mods you have on your car. If your car has a lip kit the sorta follows the same lines as the bugeye, I say get the normal sti jdm scoop. But if you're looking to be outrageous and different, get the 04/05 sti scoop. I had the same dilemma for a while, I went with the jdm scoop.

Considering that performance won't really be boosted, and that half the people I've talked to about WRX's hate big (or any) hoodscoops, I would keep the smallest hoodscoop.

I beg to differ! Go BIG and cram all that air in your hood! Just kidding, but like he says ^, no real performance difference so its a matter of opinion and what you like.

I'm not looking for performance out of it cause I already have a fmic. Just looking for a bigger scoop. I really like the high scoops, but they really don't flow with the lines of the 02-03. I know this has been talked about many many times. Just didn't think the 02 jdm sti scoop looked much bigger. Looking from Deus ex Machina pictures it looks fairly big. Thanks for the pictures!!

I was really looking for a blue one right now. Stipping the paint and repainting it would cost more money. Thank you for the offer though!!

I that the also the jdm sti hood scoop in the picture posted by J-Rex2004. That one looks really good!!! Can you guy the fins in the middle out to make it look hollow like the on in the picture also?

I say go with the STi hood scoop! I have one on my 02 Sedan and I put one on my GFs bugeye wagon! It looks awesome! It seems really big at first but then you start to appreciate it.

By sti hood scoop you mean the jdm 02-03 sti hood scoop? I am in the process of buying one from a person on this site. He showed me some pictures of his and it looks in great shape. Thanks for everyones help!!!

Now, I can't picture my car without the STi scoop. Although it is completely adequate, the OEM scoop seems really small. However, I recently installed a short shifter, too, and now that feels completely normal.

I thought at some point in time there was a vendor that had a thread posted here offering sti scoops for $185 painted. Now I can't find that thread. Any ideas on who that was or where I can get a good deal on a painted sti scoop? I have a blue 03.

Gruppe-s has them for $199 painted, and I think Suby Dude has them for about the same price as well. I remember the $185 posts, but I think prices have gone up.

whats the point of having a hood scoop on a car with a front mount. ^^ pic above of blue wrx. my opinion, Go front mount ic and get a reverse scoop. performance and looks are best!

I like the 04 Carbon fiber hood scoop with the vents, thats great. umm., i like the bigger hood scoops anyways...i hate though small little ones

i have an 02/03 sti scoop on my 2002. IMO the non-subaru made scoops look like poop, and the 04/05 on the 02/03 looks goofy. the 02 is "rounder" looking up front than the 04/05.
the 02/03 sti scoop is slightly shorter than the regular 04/05 wrx scoop [with the sti 04/05 being of mailbox size (but i like it!)]
