I don't know if I'm understanding the question correctly, but why don't you just get an A-pillar pod if you don't want to get rid of the center compartment?

ummm...i think i got the wrong things going here....
ok i dont like the a-pillar pods that hang from the sides....
i like the center pod with the 3 gauges but i dont want to have to do the work of taking things apart to replace it....i was wonder if there was any plastic part that snaped into the capartment area that you could put the 3 gauges in rather than having to but teh housing and putting it in...
i may still sound confusing...excuse me if i do...
thanks,
space

how about the pod under the radio?? you could put some gauges in there.
| Andrew | 03-04-2001 11:26 PM |
If you have an after market radio you can make your own single DIN sized gauge cluster. but you will have to take your eyes off the road to look at them.

Sweet merciful crap, did that say '2000 Yellow Lambo Diablo'???
| tmat3 | 03-05-2001 11:19 AM |
Wasn't there someone who was making a custom gauge cluster which can hold one Autometer gauge? This thing is the black piece around your speed, tach, water temp, and fuel gauge, with a extra hole to fit one more gauge. Just like the one made for a Civic and Integra.

Did you look at Andrew's profile for his homepage? [img]http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/lol.gif[/img] But that is a good idea he had, I've seen it done, putting three gauges under the stereo if you have an aftermarket. But you have to take your eyes off the road for a little too long. Maybe a pod on the hood, aka drag cars? [img]http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/rolleyes.gif[/img] That was a joke, by the way. Oh, how about you get the scoop turned around (not easy to do), and mount some gauges in there? That would be kinda cool: custom scoop, hidden gauges. Sounds like a movie.
| the spacecowboy | 03-05-2001 02:06 PM |
well im going to put my super afc where the radio is, and im going to have a intercooler so the hoodscoop is going to use that...
it seems to me that it would take more than 10 minutes to install that gauge pod...having to take the dash outline out in order to install it...
thanks,
space

A pillar pod single or dual
some people don't like these cause the may block view a little my suggestion that is get the a-pillar for right hand drive impreza and mount it with angle rings or go crazy buy a digital stack gauge as used in rally cars, touring, etc get rid of the old cluster mount a carbon piece holding the stack than you will really be in business! Just don;t park near me I will borrow it hehe

The aftermarket pod that goes replaces the dash storage container only takes 10 minutes to install. It's really very easy-pretty much a snap in job-just undo a few screws, then reverse the process.

Or lets go hi-tech....How about projecting the gauge onto the windshield like they have for RPM and MPH. That way it looks cool, and you keep your eyes on the road. Maybe you can modify one of those gauge thingies to watch like EGT, A/F, i dunno, just an idea......

no a pillar mount modded to fit the cover of the center compartment. Larry Ganz has his like that, in the compartment, low profile you know, just a biaatchh to keep the lid open eh. i am going for a pillar mount for my gauge, gauges. [img]http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/biggrin.gif[/img]
| bratmantlz | 03-08-2001 05:42 AM |

not a bad idea.....but it seems to me, they would be hard to look at...
if they could be brought out more that would be nice but then you cant close the compartment....
i guess the only solution is to buy the housing....
anyother ideas.
Thanks

hey space you can see them fine while driving or riding shotgun and you can still close the lid to the compartment. i would do that i just like to look at the pillar mounts and gauges[img]http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/biggrin.gif[/img] IMO
| Andrew | 03-08-2001 03:16 PM |
You cold take Larry's gauge idea a little father and bring the gauges up to the front (note: I don't know how deep the gauges go so this may not work). You could then place them on a type of rail and mount the top of the gauges to the top of the compartment. When you open the compartment, they slide out and are facing right at you. When you close the compartment, they slide back in.

i like the look of pillar mounts too....im just trying to find a easy way to get out of buying a pillar housing for 100 and some dollars and the small amount of work need to switch them over....[img]http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/smile.gif[/img]
