Bonzo 12-17-2001 06:44 PM

   wowee zowee. That looks weird. I am sure I will get used to it.
Raxy 12-17-2001 06:44 PM

Tommi looks like a munchkin. :)
WagonMonster 12-17-2001 07:03 PM

I'll have to admit that seeing Tommi in a Blue Car is odd, but I'm willing to adjust to it! :D

"Tommi Makinen, he's the King of The Rally Rodeo!"
johnfelstead 12-17-2001 07:13 PM

Here's a piccie of him Pre-Mitsubishi red so he can drive a car with some blue in it.

Ride that pony.
sumit 12-17-2001 07:22 PM

but he is wearing a silver suit??? so now you have Peugots, fords, citroens AND subaru drivers in light color suits. Line them up before the start of Monte for a group picture and you'll think that its all one team.

I really hope that this is only his *practice* suit
PVB 12-18-2001 12:31 AM

Hell, I never got used to that other guy, you know, the whiner. Always bitchin he was, good ridance!!!!

This is going to be good as Tommi is one of the best, and the Impreza WRC is one of the best cars.

I think that other guy is going to have some trouble in the Pugeot with it's super short wheelbase.

S. Leob is the one to watch. The Citroen is a hot car to.
mykrrrr 12-18-2001 01:33 AM

Typically, white suits are for testing. Note the lack of sponsor patches.

Tommi will be in the familar blue/gold soon enough.

Is Sebastien Loeb really that good???

Burnsy will do well in the Pug but Tommi will conquer all in the Impreza but for some reason I think McRae will calm down a bit and win in 2002...

Tommi is lookin gooood!

i figure he'll have a great season!

and my bitch-boy whiner Burnsie... hehehehe
i figure he will be quite comfy in the Pug... he's driven pugs before... wont take him long to adapt... so watch out for him...

but i have to say... McCrash is over due...
time for him to shine i think.... if he could have restrained himself just a wee bit... he'd have been champion this year...

really looking forward to 2002!!!

Also, if Ford have worked out the bugs they had early in the season, McRae should be scoring points like crazy.

Can't wait to see how it all pans out. Only a month to go :)

Tommi's new car :D
bliu 12-18-2001 01:56 PM

Anybody know what exactly the 'Battery+' Tommi's been wearing is? It's funny sometimes to find out what exactly what all the sponsors are ... like 'spike' is Japanese TV. Any clue as to 'Robin' while I'm at it?

Is Sebastion Loeb really that good?
He won every Super 1600 rally he contested which I believe is 7 or 8 rallies.
I would call that pretty incredible.
The one Super 1600 rally he didn't contest he drove the Xsara WRC car and almost beat Giles Panizzi who is considered the best Tarmac driver around. He came in Second on his first try!

If that isn't talent then he is a very, very, very, very lucky man. In Rally I don't think you could ever be that lucky. It's cruel.

I was reading a great book today "Stage by Stage" by Russell Brookes, it had some mention of McRae back around 89-90 as even then having a reputation for pushing too hard.

Great book. Has pictures of Mark Lovell etc. Mostly 70s-80s stuff in the UK.

Tommi's Battery

I think Battery+ is an energy drink. Five of those before each leg makes Tommi drive quicker. ;)
jesse370 12-19-2001 02:22 AM

Yeah it is kinda weird to see.

Maybe this year will be Mcrae's year, if the car stays together and he can keep the rubber down.

The evo just gets evo just gets even funnier lookin.
Orion 12-19-2001 07:41 AM

It's definitely a welcome sight! I'm looking forward to an outstanding 2002 season!:)
bliu 12-19-2001 09:11 AM

thanks to scott and trev with the help on the sponsors!:) time to go find me some battery + now.:D

Russell was an excelent driver, him and Jimmy McRae had many a good battle in the BRC in Chevettes, 6R4's, Escorts and Cossies.

Colin has always crashed, he was almost fired by Prodrive for turning a perfectly good Legacy into a ball of scrap on too many occasions. I have Video of Colin in his first real competitive drive on the Manx International Rally, driving a vauxhall Nova 1.3 litre. He was flying...............until he rolled it into a ball of course. Derek Ringer was a brave man!
mykrrrr 12-21-2001 06:19 AM

Derek WAS a brave soul indeed...where is he now??? He was co-driving with Martin Rowe when Martin was with Renault in the BRC but I haven't seen him in a while.

Battery+ is an energy drink like RedBull.

Spike (I believe) is a video game developer in JPN.

I agree with Jamie. Colin is overdue and could have been 2001 champion if he just drove @ 9/10th instead of his typical McCrash strategy.

Did anyone see the in-car footage of the crash. McRae & Grist did not say a word and if Grist wasn't the consumet professional he is he'd have ripped Colin's scraggly toothed head off.

I think 2002 is Colin/Nicky's year. They just have to play it safe and finish.

If Tommi can adapt to the Subaru he'll certainly do well.

Good luck to all!!! :D

He didn't say anything... but he did give him a helluva dirty look, though, once they'd stopped rolling!
