pics of the apc lights for the wrx can be found in this thread
just to let you know, the majority of the members here are anti-euro/altezza lights so you may get some unpleasant replies to this thread.
i hope this helps

Thanks for your replies, i can understand people not liking these lights, but you always need something different from the crowd.

True generally, but it seems to me that "the crowd" is all over APC like it's free right now. There are plenty of more tasteful ways to "personalize" you WRX.. Just another opinion..
With that, welcome to the Club. :)

Perhaps they would be unique in your country, but over here they are one of the first "mods" that certain drivers choose. Cheap, hard to see, and in some cases, not DOT approved. Hardly a mod I would choose.

I love them but I also owned a civic before this.

hey buddy, if u want to be different try not getting those lights. It seems that every "import tuner" has them on their car, so if u want to be different don't put these on ur car.
Instead, why don't u put that money to something that makes ur car handle better, or go faster. That would be different considering most ppl who have these lights don't have fast cars that handle well.
My opinion is that these lights will make real tuners, and car freaks (like me:) ) look down on u. Its so damn main stream now, every car has this crap.
Take that 200-300 bux and get a good set of tires, or something Useful. Make ur car better. Thats different! Being different is taking a 15mph off ramp at 50mph and not breaking a sweat (don't try this unless u know u can do it).
Thats different to me....not putting on clear tail lights.
Ur car is cool, don't screw it up:)

Maybe it's the younger Generation that likes these lights. I'm 23 and I think they help give the car a clean look. I agree spending money on parts that help the performance of the car is great but making the car look good is fun to. I will buy a set of tailights that look nice because I like them and I don't care what other people think. Besides with the mods under the hood all they will see will be those "ugly" tailights anyway. To each his own and build the car so you like it. It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. You paid for it.

Yeah, I'm 23 as well and I think they look like ****. They are ugly on the altezza and they are ugly on anything else. Anything you could do to separate your car from the Honda crowd would be my suggestion.

Hey primer grey rules, but I'm more partial to flat black.

IMO... it looks like crap on the IS300 as well.. really cheapens the car.
course look at all the new Nissans coming w/ them now (Altima, Maxima) from the factory.

Frankly, a set of Altezza lights would look good on a 02' WRX. Far better than the stock ones IMHO.

ooh oooh oooh my turn my turn, i'm 20 and i like long walks on the beach and uhh, oh wait wrong info, yeah the altezza tail lights on cars that are not altezza are sorta getting a little TOOOOOOO MUCH! with everyone having them. But it looks awesome on the actual ALTEZZA and IS300. So, do what you like, and make sure to make your blinkers blue and reverse lights green so we can say TASTE THE RAINBOW!
| Zahnster | 01-04-2002 01:22 PM |
What I think would be near is some "skyline" style taillights.(AKA Ferrari style tailights) With two big round circles, the inner one smaller than the outer one. The IS300 is kinda like this, but the outer one has clear around it. I was thinking body color around the two round lights.
What do you think?

has anyone thought about a morette design in the back? instead of a chromed out hunk of plastic with little red lenses, think a body color frame and smaller, darker red lights will work? i'm kinda thinking of how some people choose to use a body color cover on their altezzas (the actual car) instead of leaving it clear and chrome.

Really, if I ever got an IS300 for any reason.. I'd probably swap non-altezza lights onto it.
I'd do the same thing with a SVT Lightning. :D

Yeah, I see a lot of the JDM Altezzas with body colored covers on them, so you can only see the actual brake light. Looks much better IMO.

Seraph - Exactly what I thought when I saw the photo!
I was thinking, maybe it's just the chrome that I don't like...
I dunno, they still do nothing for me but a matching body color would at least be differant...

I think certain cars look good with them and others don't.
I saw a black 2000 Civic Si on the way home the other day with the Altezza taillights (they were the ones that look like a skyline). The inside of them were gunmetal colored not chromed, It looked exteremly clean... and I will be the first to tell anyone how much I dislike euro taillights.
But that car really changed my mind on some of them. He also had gunmetal Volk TE-37's it looked really good.
IMHO the only aftermarket taillights that would look good are gunmetal altezza's on a black car that is always washed and kept in good shape paintwise.

I think that a silver car with gunmetal rims and carbon style altezzas, which is what the dark gunmetal look is, would look good. It would appear that some of us really don't like the chrome, or we wouldn't do the DIY headlight paint mod =P i think the chrome is the problem, the clear cover isn't too bad, and the distinct round lights are attractive on a lot of diffrent cars, nice trend that i think the skyline started and some of us fell in love with
| SubyObsessive | 01-04-2002 03:41 PM |
Here is wut i would do.....since my car (which ever one i get) will be black. Get a pair of altezza's and tint them black, so they look like blacked out tail-lights for that stealth look in the day. And then at night they look good cause u see the round lights with the red glow. iirc, they look pretty cool at night cause u dont see all the chrome and wut not but u do see the round red light. So i think that would look pretty cool and it would be trendy as much. Just my opinion, i will prolly never do it cause i change my mind all the time...:)
but yeah, they can be nice if they arent overdone with all other chrome. That Si prolly had the carbon fiber look ones, which are still a step in the right direction.
I will say this once and i will say it again.....they can look good....it's a matter of what else is on your car with them! they can look like crap if u have crazy neons all over and 18" blingin wheels with an 11" pooper shooter! but they can look clean if you have tasteful mods to back them up like a nice clean set of wheels and a tastefull drop!
wow i wrote a book, hehe sorry...i had alot to say!

i had a friend that put these lights on his 93 prelude. i think they looked ok. i'm also 17, almost 18 and i would never get these lights for my car. they just don't go with the old or new gen impreza's or any subaru's. if you want different then keep your stock lights, way too many people have these lights. includes work trucks,cavliers,neons,mustangs............ and so on. i see more domestics with these lights on than import cars.

I think blacked out lights are cool though... Like the legacy B4 for instance... *drooool*

I don't like altezzas, but VKL lives in Scotland. And as he said, altezzas aren't common there. I just remember the first time I saw altezzas on the Lexus SUV, they looked nice. I only began hating them after seeing them on every civic in my neighborhood.
So VKL, if you are the only person in Scotland to have altezzas, then go for it. Just know that everyone else will have them on their cars in a year or so.
