Are there mudguards/flaps for the WRX Sedan? part 1

THEMUSH 10-29-2001 03:39 PM

Are there mudgaurds/flaps fot the WRX Sedan.

After looking thru several posts, I cant seem to confirm if these exists for a WRX.
If so are there onces that require no cutting or trimming and where do I get them????
wrx182 10-29-2001 03:44 PM

go to www.challengerdeep.com

$500 FOR THE STI MUDFLAPS!!!

$550 FOR THE WRC MUDFLAPS!!!

i haven't seen them elsewhere, but for your pocket books sake, i hope they are offered cheaper somewhere else!!!

if you do find them cheaper, please let me know because i am also interested.
THEMUSH 10-29-2001 03:49 PM

Holy @#$!, thats some $$$ for mundflaps!!!!!
they have a set there from Vaccana there 150 but onl;y come in red.
Poseidon 10-29-2001 04:45 PM

They do make mud guards (hard plastic) for the '02 sedans. I have them on my RS. The problem is that the side skirts on the WRX get in the way of the front ones. You could mount them, but that WOULD mean doing some cutting of either the guard or the skirt. Much cheaper than the STi/WRC ones, though!

There are the "Aero" splash guards that are genuine Subaru accessories. However, you have to get them from Canadian or other overseas dealers. They fit perfectly, but are not real "mud guards". As seen in the offroad photo below, a lot of mud still get onto the front doors.

Winter is approaching here in Chicago and I too am desperately looking for a decent nice looking and affordable set of mud flaps. Don't want the damn road salt scratching the side panels.

why don't we try to get a group-buy going on sti mudflaps or something? i remember there was a thread with a lot of ppl looking for mudflaps for their sedans/wagons and i definately want/need some once my car comes in. if there are still enough ppl interested, we should be able to get a good price on some nice lookin' and good mudflaps
wrx182 10-30-2001 11:14 AM

someone should get ahold of TaiChih - I'll be you he can get those STi flaps ALOT cheaper than $500...
THEMUSH 10-30-2001 04:30 PM

How would one get a hold of TaiChi????
128d 10-30-2001 07:53 PM

PM him, as I have so we will see what he as to say.

TaiChih 10-30-2001 08:53 PM

Hi everyone, Those mudflaps unfortunately will not go much below $500. I wouldn't even buy them. I can't justify the price for just mudflaps. I'm going to TRAK AUTO to get some generic mudflaps. :D
Onederer 10-30-2001 08:55 PM

500 for mud flaps??????

where is the mouth on them...cause for that kinda money they had better b**w me while i drive for that kinda scratch!

What are they made of?
TaiChih 10-30-2001 10:20 PM

Hey, I don't make up the prices, I just sell them.:D
GDA 10-31-2001 01:25 AM

how about those ones from canada subaru pictured above, i would be down for those.

I thought mudflaps were supposed to be functional?
GDA 10-31-2001 02:54 AM

those are for what im gonna use them for, and thats tire goo, rocks, soot, and road gunk, i notice a lot of build up every car wash in that area, which gets progressively harder to remove as time goes by.

LttLDGN 10-31-2001 03:57 AM

hrm... i was interested in those aero mud guards too.. but for cosmetic reasons... would be nice painted along with a stock side pieces.... then i would add on REAL mud flaps... :D
dwx 10-31-2001 12:19 PM

I have the mud guard things they sell for the other model imprezas and the rear ones fit perfect. Of course the front ones don't fit at all unless you pretty much completely hack off the molded part. After doing that they don't really cover a whole lot anyways, so I'm not sure it's worth it, so for the front I'm probably just going to make my own... Unless someone wises up someday and starts making some non-outrageously priced mudflaps for the WRX :)
elgorey 10-31-2001 04:22 PM

Post in the Wanted to Buy forum.

A while ago a vendor, IIRC Primitive, was selling thick plastic to cut mudflaps out of for pretty cheap.

There have also been cheap sparco mudflaps for sale in the vendor forum.

Fast,

Do those flaps just screw into the fender liner, or is there some sorta other mounting way that I'm just not seeing?
fastline 10-31-2001 07:50 PM

like i said i'm sorry for the pics

they are mounted in the front with push clips that use factory holes.

rear mount is bolted in factory holes and i include spacer for rear that hold flap streight and also uses factory hole.

i have brought my car up to 125mph with these on just so you guys know they stay on the car

i will have better detail photos soon

The ones that are posted on the car from scoobynet are the rear mud guards from the rest of the impreza line. You can find them on subaruparts.com. Those are what I have on the rear of my car now, and they do work ok, they are different than the aero things that are found in Canada. Those can be found here: http://www.i-club.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=22463

You can get them from subaruparts.com for like $75 but as they say in the description, the front ones are pretty much useless. I just bought the rear ones from someone. I'll probably get rid of them in leiu of actual mudflaps for this winter however.

I got them from Specialty Motor Cars, in Vancouver. Came to $128, shipped to Vermont.

Their toll-free # is: 877-980-2464. I think it's part # J1010FE210.
