What do bad HID's look like? Are you confusing HID's with those silly "ultra white Xenon like" bulbs?

maybe he's talkin about color. There are different color HIDs(temp).

Those HID's look nice. :D , I am not a huge fan of the Morrettes though.

OK, these are not HIDs, they are XENONS. hids run at lower temprature, unlike xeonos. these lights are what BMWs and AUDIs look like. These lights run at 6000k.

I could've sworn that automotive HIDs and 'Xenons' were synonymous terms -- High Intensity Discharge street lamps use mercury and sodium in their lamps, automotive HIDs use xenon.
Anyways, I'm not an expert... these guys are:
http://www.howstuffworks.com/question387.htm
http://misty.com/people/don//d2.html
"HIDs are unlike conventional halogen headlamps in that they operate more like street lamps. Instead of heating a tungsten filament, an electrical arc is created between two electrodes. This excites a gas inside the headlamp (usually xenon) which in turn vaporizes metallic salts. These vaporized metallic salts sustain the arc and emit the light used for the headlamp's beam. These lamps provide more light than that produced by halogen lamps and only use two-thirds the power. As a result, they are more efficient, and because there is no filament to burn out, these bulbs are claimed to last for as much as 100,000 miles of driving time." - taken from NHTSA/DOT Document
edit: you realize that 6000K refers to the color temperature, right? Not to be confused with actual temperature! HID output runs anywhere from 4500K to 7000K.

xenon is just a type of hid. the xenon is the gas that is encapsulated in the bulb. there are also metal halide bulbs, sodium bulbs and others.
The common factor in these systems if the lack of a filament.

Are these the stage 1 or stage 2 xenon kit? I am really interested in buying the same setup you have.

cheaper and brighter
I wish I could see the difference between low/high beam in action or on pics... people say that there is no difference:confused:

Would there be any interest in these 'Stage II' kits for less than $400 shipped? Dual beam H4's would be available for slightly more... If there're people who're willing to buy, i'll make arrangements...
You'd have a choice of either a crystal blue or violet hue.
