CF Hoods part 1

CoopsCustomz 12-08-2004 10:42 PM

CF Hoods
I just won mine today for $1.25! :D (it came out to $200 after s&h and insurance) It's a B-stock hood, they are selling for super cheap on Ebay. Flaws could be easily buffed out by a body shop. Cant wait for my GIANT package in the mail!

kennyvb 12-10-2004 05:43 PM

anyone know if they allow pick-ups?
CoopsCustomz 12-10-2004 06:23 PM

No, they dont unfortunately... then i REALLY woulda gotten it for $1.25!
05rswagon 12-10-2004 07:33 PM

let us know how it fits please ive seen that but im worried about it let us know
kennyvb 12-10-2004 09:18 PM

how much do you suspect they are making off shipping? for some reason, i think i'd be better off paying the difference and picking it up...that way i could inspect the goods...
CoopsCustomz 12-10-2004 09:22 PM

True, but they specifically say no pickups. Oh well, Ill tell let yall know how it fits and how *flawed* it is. Supposedly B-stock means the carbonfiber is grade A and perfect, but the surface of the hood isnt quite smooth, IE, small bubbles here and there. Im going to take it to a body shop and have them smooth and UV protect it.
jojor512 12-10-2004 09:55 PM

id be worried about the structure, but maybe thats just me. corners could be an issue along with fitment, but hey, if it all turns out good u got a good deal, as long as the thing fits and isnt a complete POS you'll be able to get it to look good tho u might want/have to paint it.
RIGGS-WRX 12-10-2004 10:48 PM

not to scare you but run awat from that hood and all the other chea[ c.f hoods on ebay you get what you pay for they suck how do i know i got suckered into buying one and let me tell you my brand new seibon hood that i had to get cause the ebay sucked that bad is perfect
CoopsCustomz 12-11-2004 06:01 AM

im not too worried about it... i read the feedback on the seller, and the majority of b-stock hood buyers were really happy with it. Besides, as long as its lighter than my OBS hood... $h*t its all good. That thing weighs four times as much as a WRX hood. Steel not fiberglass
CoopsCustomz 12-12-2004 06:27 PM

"Hi,
The freight shipping usually takes 5-7days after hood is picked up from my warehouse. The flaws on surface is usually alot less than what customers thought it would be like. Each hood is different so at times stickers can hide flaws.
Carbonproducts"

Their reply to my inquiry on how *flawed* each on is. Fairly comforting knowing that a sticker can cover it up most of the time, should be an easy fix.

I do have a question though, I have an OBS, and I do not currently have a turbo nor intercooler. In a month or two, im having a custom intake and exhaust intalled, the intake being routed up under the scoop and maybe sealed off, as to suck in cool air. Should I put a *filter* of sorts under the scoop untill then so I dont get dust/bugs/crap in my engine?

Oh, and im just waiting for my warantee to end before I do a OB XT engine swap...
05rswagon 12-27-2004 09:29 AM

any updates on this how did the hood work out
ydant 12-27-2004 09:45 AM
Should I put a *filter* of sorts under the scoop untill then so I dont get dust/bugs/crap in my engine?
Do or do not, there is no try. Seriously, it doesn't matter. Your car won't die from whatever ends up getting in there. Just make sure there's a filter in the air intake, and you're golden. :D

And let us know how the hood looks. For free hosting, use http://imageshack.us :)
CoopsCustomz 12-27-2004 01:36 PM

I got the hood a couple days ago, MAN! What a steal... The hood looks fantastic, the scoop is the only *flawed part*. Its got a few small stress fractures, but their invisible to the untrained eye. Ill post pics>
kennyvb 12-27-2004 01:39 PM

did you install it already? how's the fitament?
CoopsCustomz 12-27-2004 01:57 PM

I circled the flaws in yellow. There incredibly minor considering how good the rest of the hood looks. Im happy.

I have yet to install b/c of the rain and I was having difficulty w/ the windshield squirters. But as soon as I get a dry day... I know these hoods often do not fit well, but it LOOKS like it will fit just fine. Its not warped or anything, and is directly bolt on.

edit: and that screen didnt come with it. thats custom :D although i redid it b/c the first one had gaps on the sides. Plus I painted it black to match my pill4rless grill
kennyvb 12-27-2004 02:01 PM

wondering if a stock hood scoop could be used with it...
CoopsCustomz 12-27-2004 02:04 PM

on the underside it looks pretty molded in, aka permanent, but Im sure its nothing a bodyshop couldnt handle. Oh and this thing is light as a feather. if my arms were longer I could spin it on my finger.
05rswagon 12-27-2004 06:46 PM

letus know and see picts when ur dun
don_xtc 12-28-2004 12:09 AM
