I really dont think there real JDM lights. JDM to me, and most people is either a OEM part off of a car sold only in Japan, or made by a company that only sells there parts in Japan. These lights i think your talking about can be found on e-bay for like $175. if thats them.... trust Me there not JDM, and there not real Carbon Fibor. Go on ebay, and just do a search for impreza...they'll be there im sure..
KSs2001RS 08-03-2003 02:17 AM

i've been talking to a guy from B&T Distibutor's via email, and he's supposed to get some CF real overlay one's (he said they are jdm) back in stock, and i've heard of corazon cf one's, but not having luck finding some. want the real cf as opposed to cf look. found these http://www.allbodykits.com/plhc-im9700.jpg http://www.allbodykits.com/Angel_Eyes.htm - anyone try these ones? don't know what brand they are though. comments? thnx.

No, those are reflector units.
KSs2001RS 08-03-2003 11:48 AM

do you know where to get real cf projector ones? or can you swap out reflectors for projectors? how well do the reflector ones work vs stock lights? thnx.

here is my reply on these lights in another thread from last week

Fitment is great.

Make sure you use the larger lens for Low beams, And the inner for high's. And here is why

For the first 6months of having them I used the outers as Lows(very easy to switch back and forth, both are H7 plugs) Well a light blew on me(and how the cops love me they would have oulled me over) so i unpluged and made the inners lows. Well it only took 2 days(well night) and the lens cracked, and the reflector housing melted do to the heat

For the carbon ones i know Nino (cant remember his full club name) has had them instock in the past

I have the real corazon ones. There carbon ones are just a carbon print and not real CF
KSs2001RS 08-03-2003 11:15 PM

jynx,
you have any closeups on those? i really want real cf ones, but am curious about the fake cf ones as to how gd they look. how much did you pay for them? thnx.

personally i think those lights are the ugliest mod you can do to a gc8
Yotsuya 08-06-2003 11:55 AM

Those lights re definitely not JDM (maybe TDM, as in Taiwan, but I'd need to see a pair). The only JDM projectors made for the GC/GM cars were HIDs that are insanely priced and wrap around to encompass the turn signals.

Personally, I'm happy with FDM:

hey yotusya,
how much is insanely priced for the JDM ones and do you have pics or know where to get pics of them? even though not sure i like the whole wrap around ones, not sure it would be that bad w/ a black car ( you can see pics at http://homepage.mac.com/kstiggger/PhotoAlbum18.html ), but was planning on doing the clear corners (unless i found something better). do the FDM ones come in CF? hoping to find real cf (at least real overlay) plug-in projector ones. the guy i was talking to via email said the cf ones were about $100 more than the reg ones, but haven't gotten a final answer from him on price, pics of the CF ones, and if he got them back instock yet. he had the standard black ones, but was waiting for the cf ones to come back instock. how much more light do the FDM ones give off compared to stock? any closeup shots? thnx.

The "electra" lights were offered a few years ago around $2000, but I haven't seen anyone selling them of late. But then I haven't looked lately, either. They will also be set up for right hand driving, and wouldn't be very useful in the States.

The lights you typically find on Ebay are very sketchy knock-offs that use lenses and optics far worse than stock lights. Carbon fiber versions are not going to be much different than a polished turd; you've just spent an extra $100 and your lights are still crap. I pondered the ability to put better lenses in those housings before biting the bullet and shelling out $400 for a set of Morettes.

The original concept is very good; it allows you to use "standard" lenses and bulbs you can find in any store in a car with "areo," or custom tailored lenses. The Morettes are really regular headlights with a housing that lets them fit into the opening of the car. Today's lights seem a little more specialized, but I have no desire for projectors or HIDs; they all have to conform to the same standards (HIDs are a little different, but that's another story), so other than looks there is no difference other than complexity and cost.

The best part about Morettes is you can retain the H4 lights you already have and get a set of driving lights at a correct height (Morettes use Cibie Tango driving lights) with no drilling or excessive wiring. The fact the H4 lenses are designed for European specs makes them a good substitute for the already excellent (compared to other cars) stock lenses. Technically they're not legal for US use (at least where I live; check your state's laws), but they aren't something that is noticed now that inspections only seem to care about emissions and not about the roadworthiness of your car.

Pre-02 Morettes are still around; Z1 has group buys frequently, and I think CC-B can get them, too, as he is a Morette distributer. Installation took me about an hour, because the instructions were in French and I needed to make sure the high beam wires tapped properly. Once aimed properly, there is nothing better you can put on a pre 02 Imoreza.

Oh, and they come in flat black plastic; no carbon fiber.

stay stock. if you're on a budget mod other stuff you can afford first or save more money.
KSs2001RS 08-08-2003 01:59 AM

just saying i don't want to pay $2 or 3 gran for lights. if the cf look ones look convincing/good enough w/ the real cf next to it (hood) and they provide more light w/ easy mod w/o major cost, that would work well, even though i would prefer the real cf.

KSs2001RS 08-08-2003 09:04 PM

as with most al morretes on gc8s... they look completly out of place with the corners as they are... but hey since you like fake carbon fiber, you could just put fake cf crap on your corners too
