At first I assumed he was talking about the side bumper scoops, but I forgot about the shark hood scoops.

Kid if you cruise the "GC8 pics thread" you'll find a few cars that have this type of vent...then pm the owners and see where they picked it up at.

wow those look pretty bad compared to the stock side vents on the hood.
It's basically a hood scoop's smaller...impotent...and less aggressive little brother.

It also defeats the purpose of the bonnet vents in the first place. The normal scoop feeds the intercooler air. The other vents are meant to let hot engine air out, not bring more air in.

I don't own one of those models but I'd be pretty surprised if the metal plate completely blanks off the vent. I had a Group A GT4 back in Australia that had a massive vent similar to the smaller ones on the model WRX shown in the photos before and it had a vented metal plate under the vent as well. The plate was there to protect crap (water/mud etc) dropping onto the engine through the vent. The bonnet vents on the Evos are the same.
Also if it was meant to have air go into the engine through that vent then logically they'd have put another scoop there, no?

MRT product.
get them at any MRT vendor.
they're not fiberglass like ETS knock offs
they're steel.

it also produces extra drag on cars that are already aerodynamic disasters. And why would you need cool air going to the air filter? It doesn't exactly get so hot that it drastically lowers the intake temps.
It just seems rice to me.

Usually, when somebody gets the side scoop its to draw air down to the air filter (which is located directly underneath the right vent). So no, these scoops are functional, not just for looks.
And the metal plate under the vents on the RS hood is basically completely closed off, I wouldn't say much heat gets outta there. Theres only one tiny hole to let water drip through.

Why do you keep calling ETS's part's "knock off", this is the first time i've heard of any person including a modarator refer to any "vendor's" part's as "KNOCK OFF's " HAS any one called the replica V-lip a knock off ,NO,or any other replica part's being sold on here a knock off , also NO ,???? MRT do ONLY one style and only for a 97>00 where as ETS do at least 7 for the UK pre-facelift and 7 -8 for facelifted so i can't see how sugiegal can call these knock off's when there's NO body else making them in these design's / style's and they've added a reverse style to their list of style's ,which NO BODY else do also

i think they're cool, i wish the newer hoods still had side vents.
for turbo cars, the underhood temp isn't important, but for N/A there is quite a noticable difference, especially if you're able to block off the intake scoop so it's a ram air.
