Citron Sport Director Guy Frquelin profited from the carmaker's traditional pre-Paris Motor Show press conference in Paris to unveil the new Citron C4 which will spearhead its assault on the 2007 World Rally Championship.
"We will be making our official return to the WRC in just a few months' time now with the Citron C4 which has been built and developed to permit the brand to re-conquer the Manufacturers' and Drivers' World Championship titles," announced Automobiles Citron's Managing Director, Claude Satinet.
"The Xsara years are about to end and I am counting on everyone at Citron Sport to make the Citron C4 era just as glorious," added Guy Frquelin who paid a resounding tribute not only to his team but also to the triple Manufacturers' World Championship-winning car."
In addition to a new car, the 2007 campaign will see a new crew competing alongside 2004 and 2005 World Champions Sbastien Loeb and Daniel Elena, since Guy Frquelin has announced that Spaniards Dani Sordo and Marc Marti Junior World Rally Champions in 2005 with the Citron C2 Super 1600 have been chosen to help the brand rise to this new challenge.

The rear end hatch sort of reminds me of a Prius.
Its in gravel form so its made to be ugly but work well.

From the side, yes - except for the rear wing being higher on the C4. The front is similar but uglier than the Focus IMO.

Really, there's just no comparison. The new headlights suck, and everything behind the front wheels, as someone else said, looks like a prius. The old one is just so much better-proportioned.
When Peugot went from the 206 (hawt) to the 306 (nawt), their rally program went to ****. I'm not sure even Loeb can overcome the curse of an ugly rally car.

Wow, this trim looks awful compared to the concept from a few years ago. I wonder what it'll look like in tarmac trim.
Pics of the old C4 Sport Concept car in case anyone hasn't seen them or forgot.

Looks like someone got the front end done, and said "aww **** it" when it came to designing the rest of the car.

| digitalpimp | 09-07-2006 04:47 PM |
running the same big front arches as the current fords. me thinks to let the air out of the wheel well to aid brake cooling. but that would be why the ride height looks so retardedly high. also running similar rad-pack ducting to the ford (out the sides of the hood). the rest just looks like a rally car to me. i think the a-pillars make it look rather minivanish
| mykrrrr | 09-07-2006 05:38 PM |
uuuh, it's in gravel trim. the tarmac one will look more like the sport concept so you slammed car fanboi's can calm down. :p
It looks good, it should go like stink w/Seb behind the wheel and probably dominate like the Xsara does now.
The "curse" of the Peugeot won't happen. The 307 was a horrible platform to make into a rally car. The car was too long beyond the wheelbase. The 206 was the perfect car for a few years.
Can't wait to see '08...

I really like it in tarmac trim, I'm also happy they're stickign to their plan to continue in 07. It made sense though, they were so far ahead of the game in 05 and wanted to concentrate on the new car so not running made financial sense.
