Do you hate your tiny side view mirrors? part 1

nashcarr 12-31-2006 08:51 AM

Do you hate your tiny side view mirrors?
I am seriously thinking of ordering the larger side view mirrrors from Japanparts.com.

These side view mirrors are much too small? Has anyone swapped theirs out?

This is my biggest gripe about my WRX....
02redwagone 12-31-2006 08:55 AM

No complaints here.
MD04WRX 12-31-2006 09:03 AM

I don't think they are too small. I've had cars including my SVT Focus which are smaller. I was thinking of getting smaller ones for my 04.
nashcarr 12-31-2006 09:28 AM

How did you like your SVT Focus. I had a 2004 I bought brand new that was the biggest lemon, fun cars handling wise but very underpowered!

i could tell you horror stories about that LEMON!
CynicX 12-31-2006 09:41 AM

I have no complaints on mine. And I used to drive a S10 and I have a Chevy work truck, both have HUGE side mirrors.

Although visiblity isnt the best, I'll gladly take a more areodynamic and better looking mirror over something overly sized....
bluetwo 12-31-2006 09:49 AM

I can see just fine. Once you get used to the cars dimensions it's no problem to drive IMO.
Amazake 12-31-2006 10:56 AM

Try using the APR mirrors.

It's been a good daily driver. Got 107,000 miles in it in 2 years and 4 months. Bought it used with 10,000 miles on it. It was a dealer buy back / Lemon Law car but the problem was just a loose hose the dealer could never find. Only problems were ignition cylinder which just went bad this month, intake manifold issue around 60,000, 1st brake job around 57,000. All else just fine. And since it was a dealer buy back I got great deal.

Thinking of getting them for my 04.
semaj 12-31-2006 10:23 PM

I don't even look in my side mirrors that often...rearview and shoulder checks for me. :p
Ryan314 12-31-2006 10:44 PM

^ Same. I don't think I ever use my passenger side mirror lol.

I've always thought my '02 mirrors were more than adequate in size. They're even nicer with the Accurit mirrors I have on them - blue tint and blind spot feature FTW
Counterfit 01-01-2007 12:56 AM

I'd rather have too small (can't see behind you) than too big (can't see what's at the apex of the corner right in front of your left front wheel) like my father's Rendezvous. :furious:
AWD>FWD 01-01-2007 01:37 AM

Yeah, I have had zero problems with mine.
drees 01-01-2007 01:46 AM

Side view mirrors are fine with me, I wish they were a bit smaller and more aero myself.

Hey Hank!!!1 Happy USDM New Year!

Do I still have dibs on these if you ever decide to sell? I think I called it 3 years ago!
veightkiller 01-01-2007 05:39 AM

their just about right for me,
bolderer 01-01-2007 11:14 AM

No problems here. 20/20 vision doesn't hurt either.

+1 for giant S10 side mirrors. I miss those so much. Granted, I miss nothing else about owning a GM product, but at least it's something.

It took me forever to get used to the Subaru's mirrors, but they 're ok, I guess. I've dealt with worse.

this is a joke right?

....I guess I'm NOT crazy  --------I thought it was a joke, too.

Maybe when ya reclined so far back that ya half in the back seat when ya drive, ya can only see a bit of the mirror.....and just think they are small
nashcarr 01-01-2007 08:39 PM

No not a joke, the mirrors are too small, not that I want S10 big though, just a little bigger......ease on up Uncle Scotty...

What is "too small" about them? Too narrow, too short?
I think they're alright, but if it bothers you go for an upgrade.
nhluhr 01-01-2007 08:48 PM

I think they are plenty large. Maybe you don't have them adjusted properly?
kreitz3 01-01-2007 09:11 PM

Either that or his seating position is wrong....
You can't "lowride" or "gangster lean" these cars....

 , it's true!
AWD>FWD 01-01-2007 09:20 PM

And I see people trying WAY too often.
Counterfit 01-02-2007 01:45 AM

I want to slap people when I see them doing that. You don't need 20+ on your seatback outside of a single seater or F-16.
jmanrex 01-02-2007 02:46 PM

the ones from japanparts.com are for righthand drive cars--so be careful--if you are complaining now that you can't see--you will really have a problem when you order them

talk to graham from japanparts first before you order
