240RS as in the S110 on steroids right?

If so,

Nice videos, looks like a lot of fun :)

That cockpit looks like something out of an old sci-fi movie. :)

the handling police need to arrest that car. sure, 330whp, but damn if you can keep it pointed straight. was it built as a drift car? my camaro handled better in snow then that thing does in the rain! great car control though.
dentsport 10-11-2006 04:45 PM

This was the cars first event. The suspension hasn't been touched yet and there is almost no downforce (probably the biggest issue). The car suits my driving style:) which is what I built it for. For this event, the power was closer to 250whp as I backed the boost off to 1.4 bar, but at 2200 lbs, its plenty. The aero will be worked on this winter and next year it will be better;)

Congratulations! Thanks again for the silicon coupler so we could make the main event!

Thats a lot of counter steering! Its awsome to see that thing on track. Will you be at NHIS or LRP with COM?
dentsport 10-16-2006 06:11 PM

I'm going to try and do the LRP COM event. After GT Live, I'm not sure if I can afford both days!
M 10-16-2006 06:32 PM

Can someone tell me what this car is? From the interior I have no clue what it is. Maybe some exterior pics?

Any word on laptimes for VIR full, which is what you appear to be driving on.
eastcoastbumps 10-16-2006 11:08 PM

Its the white 240.

Thank you, Looks like those guys are trying to start a race prep shop.
eastcoastbumps 10-17-2006 12:52 AM

They've been open a while now and are noted as the best shop around Boston.

Yeah, as noted, they have been open a while. They sponsor me for AutoX and help me with my car prep.

Alex, another shop owner, won his class at a NEHA ( http://www.hillclimb.org/ ) event this past weekend in his Evo 2.

Cool,

The reason I say it looks like they are starting is because of the lack of pictures showing their work. When you make claims of CAD designed FIA homolgated cages, usually you can say here's my work in XX racing series. Same for manifolds and such. I think they'd do better if they improved their website some. Also hiring an engineer with a degree if you plan to make engineering claims.

Where's the negativity coming from?

"From a 4 point roll bar to the latest CAD designed, FIA homologated cages, DSG takes every step to ensure your chassis is as safe and as stiff as possible. Cages can be purchased from Custom Cages and Safety Devices in the UK and professionally installed on premises using TIG or MIG welding techniques. Seam/stitch welding is available for bare shell builds and additional bracing can be added to any vehicle. Please call us with any questions you might have regarding cages."

I see nothing there other than "We can install any cage you want". And in their engineering section, there's a bunch of pics (although admittedly not much discussion. While it isn't clear whether their engineering is in-house or out-sourced, I hardly see why you need to be apparently flaming them for not having any engineers with degrees (which itself seems like a big assumption on your part that they don't).

In response to the above. M, I think that you have either misunderstood or misread (or our verbiage wasn't clear) that we don't design cages in house. We buy them (especially for FIA) and install them here. The cages are usually CAD designed by major producers.

We have several in house built cages here that have passed tech for SCCA and other organizing bodies with no problems whatsoever.

In more specific response to the engineering claims, this is something that I have had to address in the past. I have engineering experience, proven and tested CAD and Solidworks experience and worked on NASA and NSF grant projects in the past before starting the shop here with Bill.

We have an engineer on contract who holds 13 individal patents in fields ranging from cryogenics to infrared technology and another who is 6 months from graduating tufts with an ME. Matt Koestner is our tuner, with 10 years of road racing experience and a degree in Electrical Engineering.

If I or we can be of any help or service to you in any future projects with your car please let us know!

+1 for DentSports Garage. and their 240sx is stupid fast. =P props on that!
[emailprotected] 10-17-2006 12:52 PM

Thanks Edo! I can't wait for next year when we'll probably be seeing you guys at the track again.
M 10-17-2006 12:59 PM

I appologize for anything that came across as "flaming" I was just trying to offer some advice and help dentsport. I saw some room for improvement and i made some reccomendations.
menash23 10-18-2006 01:56 AM

i like the video, i think the hood needs to be checked up... its very loose.
Bimmubishi 10-18-2006 06:47 AM

It's tight but so thin that at high speeds it flutters. Bill cut all the ribbing from underneath it so it's essentially a sheet of metal held down by 4 hood pins and a set of hinges.

[emailprotected] 10-18-2006 09:54 AM

hahaha, its actually 6 pins and latches. It made the passengers a little worried.

DSG, I sent you guys a PM
Bimmubishi 10-19-2006 06:15 AM

Thanks a lot Phat Suby. We're going to be in some more mags this winter. Bill's 240 and I think my Evo now that the cage is done again in Modified as a feature car. I just did the last event of the year in the Evo, a hillclimb in VT.
