Engine Bay accented in RED....

Here are some picture of my engine bay.
I have painted the solenoid cover, fuse box cover, belt cover, battery tie down and also heat shield. Plus I have other red items... Samco I/C hoses, Samco MAF hose, and Perrin Catch can.
I think I have reached a nice balance with the color. Not too much red I think... An inexpensive way to dress up your engine bay.
Let me know what you think..

Looks really nice and clean. What kind of paint did you use?
| Jsunn | 10-23-2005 05:25 PM |
I used the Duplo Color 1200 deg red paint. I cleaned them really well and went to town!

That looks clean as hell.
I thought about doing something very similiar, but didn't know where to go with it.
I LIKE that. a LOT.
Nice!

I agree with Speed Racer. You should paint the fluid caps. It would look a lot better, but gj.

Because of the light, it looks like there are several different colors of red, but they all look really, really close.
I don't want to have to worry about the red paint flaking off of the caps.
I am glad you guys liked it. It was really simple. I had to be extra careful with the heat shield, a pain not to scratch.

I painted my caps blue and haven't had a problem yet with flaking

There's a guy over on my350z
I believe his sn is Zpresence (real name is Rob) He's got a HUGE thread on his engine bay paint jobs. At one point (page 185? j/k), he actually details his paint and process.. to ensure a little elasticity and heat protection.
Check out his work from some great ideas.
Cheers, Ted

Looks great! I should try doing my black plastic covers too. =)

Nice touches, but I'm not a red fan, I would have gone with my car color, or if I had an STi I'd do pink (duh)

Like the heatshield on the turbo. Nicely done.

looks sick ... nice job!

Someone was busy. The red sets off the silver nicely.

So what would be a good color to go with a sedona red (fire engine red) wrx?
Red is kinda... well, there's a lot of that already. Blue? Silver-grey? If I can talk to the SO into letting me play with some of this (like getting the samco hoses), I'd like to get stuff to color-match (but I don't want it to look riced out).

I think with the sedona red, you might want to try and match the color of the car. I think that would look pretty cool.
Good luck, don't be too hasty with the paint.

Woody, if you have a MY04 WRX it is San Remo Red (might have spelled that wrong).
Sedona Red Pearl was only availble in the Bugeye.

Thanks. It's a MY04. Roughly the color of a fire engine. We really wanted to find the darker-red metallic/pearl, but couldn't find any around in sedan form when shopping (looking at used cars).
