i want halos for my 04, just one halo in each head light, around the high beams

Those headlights are known to this community to be the absolute WORST headlights ever made. They are VERY cheap, have horrible light output, and have been known to melt harnesses...
NOT a good idea... Thumbs down! :(

junk
they look sweet but are crap because of above mentioned.
that and the seals burn thru after a while.
but they do look sweet.

If you want the halo look but want to be able to see at night you can take clear vertical blind rod. heat it up in the oven and wrap it around a tin can. Then taking a saw notch it. Then you can shrink tube high intensity Led's to the ends of the rods.
cheap affective, gives you the look you want, 1/3rd the price and not run into the horrable lighting. You just have to be clever about hiding the light sorce and keeping things far enough away from the hot light!!
I was able to get some of the rod from home depot just by asking nicely. They gladly hooked it up with the broken rods for free.
good for arts and crafts too.
This was my first attempt at it so im sorry that its not the best.

hey, no worries.
I admit my stuff is kinda on the rat-rodder side but it looks good from a distance if carefully done and is low investment  .
Im used to being cut down for them so I wouldnt mind if you were talking about my stuff.

I actually bought those headlights, but am going to basically chop them up into something that I want..
I've started to acumulate all the parts that I need for my custom headlight project that I am about to embark on.
So far I have the following:
- Spare Bugeye headlight lense cover
- Spare Bugeye amber headlight turn signal cover
- Cheap $199 halo projector headlights from ebay..
Generally the final project will be a combination of these different styles:

As you can see these ebay lights will allow for the stock Bugeye lenses to fit over top of them to give the STi look.. however the top area for the signal light area will be much like the Koji/painted stock headlight mod.
So basically I am going to modify the 2 projector cylinders to seem more like the STi headlights instead of the WRC type of headlight.. so you will see the cylinder tubes for the projectors much like the STi lights.
As you can see, the cylinders are there on the ebay lights, it is just a matter of exposing them and molding them with the rest of the headlight to give it more of a 3D interior like the STi light:

I will be removing the IMO cheesy white/clear cover on the ebay lights, mold over the holes left by them and glueing the stock Bugeye amber signal cover over the turn signal. Also modifying that area a bit more to flow with the molding being done on the projectors.
At the end I think I will paint them a gunmetal with metalic fleck so they look black from a distance, but gunmetal up close. Also paint the inside of the projector cylinders with chrome paint and hook up the halo's to the parking lights. I'll be re-wiring the headlights as well with proper resistors to curb any harness melting.
It should be an interesting project carving up these lights...
To be continued....
Tim

^^very nice mod....I think you are the first guy to do that and post it.
those ebay lights are crappy though and the projector lens is questionable.
two thumbs down.
another idea is to buy some cheap take-off projector lens setup+hit(ebay 100-200) and retrofit them into your stock lights

I know for a fact they are just what everyone else is saying....CRAP! I had them befor I got my Orciari projectors. The Ebay headlights dont perforn even half as good as the stock bug-eyes. I would have too disagree on the harness melting though I had 85w lows and 120w high beams in my set with no problems......but they do leek like a paper bag full of water and are nearly impossible to adjust. My low beams started to peel ( silver reflecton coating inside ) after about a year. They aint worth the trouble, If you got $200 save it till you got $400+ for a good used set. If you like that look of the Ebay lights the Orciari projectors are a better. Here is a pic of they on my car

Yup.. I'm looking at probably retrofitting some other projector lenses in there and maybe going with an HID kit

glad I decided to keep my stockers and just blacked them out, cause I was very close to buying those ebay lights last week.
| REVNU | 03-09-2006 05:44 PM |
My friend also bought a set of these for his Civic SI. Complete JUNK! A candle and a reflector works just as good. OK maybe not, but the output was pretty horrible. They sure did LOOK cool though!

Wait! It actually has a projector beam!

Wow, those actually have a projector bulb in them. In the past, they were selling 'projector' headlights but instead of having that projector bulb, they were both reflective.
This is the first time I have seen an actual projector in that housing.
I think a lot of people might be confused- the original 'projector' ones sold on ebay were not projectors, but this one appears to have a projector bulb in there.
I have not seen these on any car. I know people have tried retrofitting hella projectors into the housings since there was not a real projector in there.
However, the ebay link you have shows a real projector bulb.
I would be curious to see how this actually turns out.
Either way, I heard the wiring and adjustments on the fake projetors was terrible. not sure if that changed, but at least there is an actual projector!!!
If you search 'ebay headlight' you will see most people referring to projector lheadlights without a real projector beam, kinda like this:

change out the lights to a set of hella 90mm projector low beams(H9 halogen) and you have a decent set of headlights- but they will still leak and possibly melt. so use lots of silicon and make sure they are able to cool properly.
hella 90mm lowbeam projectors are only 60 bucks each so it's not a lot of money if you can retrofit them well(so they are easily adjustable)

Yes the newer ones are projectors but they are still horrible.

Yeah dont confuse these with the old reflector ebay headlights. These are REAL projectors. If anyone has them can you PLEASe post pics of the beam pattern/cutoff?

I can try and plug the projector lowbeam and highbeam into my harness when they are out of the car to get an idea of what their pattern is.. Don't know how long the wires are or how well the photo will turn out though.

They may be real projectors, but by all the accounts I have seen from people who installed them, the beam pattern still sucks.

I don't recall if anyone had pics or not, but the words spoke for themselves. I have no reason to believe otherwise, since it's the same crappy lights just with different low beams. And they're still wired wrong.
