Engine Accenting/painting

I know I will be flamed for this by all the people who say "If it doesnt make your car go faster it's rice"...I dont care:D . I think the yellow caps on the coolent, power steering, washer fluid etc. WERE ABSOLUTELY UGLY. I hated them and decided to paint them a color tha matched my short ram intake. So I went ahead and drove down to GI Joes and bought some "metal cast" or fake metal looking paint. I had a few problems with the plastic not accepting the paint but once I sanded them a little bit it went great. I also did the electronic cover on the passenger side and the pulley/alternator cover(dont know what its called) It looks good I think. I know this doesnt add horsepower, so some will criticize but I really didnt like that yellow plastic look. Tell me your opinions.

I think it looks good. You did a good job everthing looks professional done. But to each his own opinion. I say pick another color and paint the top of the engine ;)

Nice, but for the love of god paint your fuse cover holder blue to balance out the blueness. You can also paint the top of the engine block blue, although most people paint it STI red. :)

Buy a better camera before you buy more paint.

Full_Clip suspects camera-phone.

Looks good. Your IC looks a little beat up though...

Full_Clip is wrong:D . Its a digital camera from 6 years ago, one of the first to be really mass produced, less than 1 megapixel. Very bad quality.

Its not, just the quality of the camera.

To each his own.

It looks like you did a pretty good job, but I just don't like the color.
kenchan 01-04-2004 10:14 AM

looks like a cusco front strutbar with the similar blue would finish it up. :D
WRX03 01-05-2004 05:57 AM

Looks good to me, but I'm another you might consider another color. I choose the same color of the car in my case. A non-matallic may actually look better with a silver car? But if you like it that's all that matters. :D

I think I'll have to go the carbon fiber route. I doubt the paint will hold up over time and will start to look like, well, spray paint.
grknss 01-05-2004 08:34 AM

I like it, very nice...

1 question how will the paint hold up with the heat of the engine? high temp paint was used I hope. I see no rice there either

As I stated earlier it looks great but there's just one more thing missing that should be blue in my opinion. I didn't know what to call it so just look at the picture instead :)

wrxplaya11 you should take the coolent cover off anyways. 02's black paint flakes off the bottom of the cover and goes into your coolent, some have had coolent blockage from it. :(

I had done the same as you with the paint scheme... The only one that doesn't hold the paint is the washer fluid one. Its too thin off plastic and bends, causes the flakes to come off... I did mine in july, looks good in jan.

I thought about that but with 3 coats of base, and 3 coats of blue I think im ok.
