1) that's a blobeye (04/05) wrx, not a bugeye (02/03)
2) GC8's look soo much better than new Imprezas. If you want a different look, get an RS bumper, or a JDM version 4 bumper. Go to the Member's Gallery and browse "I need pimp GC8 pics!", you'll want to keep your front.

you said you wanted a bugeye conversion but the picture you said as "what you want" is of an 04/05.... not that it will make a difference in year because they would both require the same amount of work... anything is possible... im gonna guess drill out old core support and weld in new one, new fenders, hood, bumper, bumper cover, headlights, etc...
| eyeless99prez | 12-18-2006 12:22 AM |
Yeah i didnt mean the bugeye sorry i meant the one there is a pic of.. so u think that is possible.. if i took it to a shop would they know how to do it? where do u think i could get all the parts from..
| silver-RS | 12-18-2006 12:29 AM |
wow you wanna turn an orange into an apple..heh
but seriously i think its very do-able...as the chasis
of both cars should be very similar if not the same...
so i think its very doable...if you are serious enough
get all the parts...and see how they fit...
no one can tell you what exactly need to be done...

A different bumper, grill, and hood will do wonders for the looks of your car. The GC8 look is still the hottest looking impreza (please see pics of 22b). :D

meanwhile the rest of the solar system is wishing their bug/blob/peanut eye looked like a gc8.

If you are going to invest the money I would strongly recomend the previously mentioned V4 front end conversion or just swap the front bumber from a 2.5RS for a V5/V6 look, or for that matter speak to a skilled body shop about a widebody kit.

Don't bother.

Don't mind the 92-97 headlights. The bumpers work on any GC8, from 93-2001. The headlights are interchangable with the 98+ headlights, as long as you have a grille to match them. The front bumper is available from your local Subaru dealer (it was an option on the 98 RS, which came stock with the same bumper as your car pictured), part # 57720FA071. Try going to these links for more pictures:

Or go to SubaruGenuineParts, and do a search for "bumper" in the accessories, it's about 2/3rds of the way down, has a nice picture and a really nice price. FYI, the US RS front bumper (made from 99-2001) is exactly the same as the JDM Version 5 and 6. JDM Version 5/6 rear bumpers are different than our US RS has (which, if I remember right, is a version 4 bumper), but you can buy those from the dealer too. The part number is 57720FA132.

I found a picture of the Version 5/6 rear bumper. People complain about the US-market STi wing...that wing is what version 5/6 STi's came with stock!

also, there are rear spats available. It's designed for version 5/6 bumper, but it'll fit on the US bumper with some modification.

Even though you work in Subaru parts, these part numbers MAY be hard to find, since they're technically JDM parts.
Rear bumper: 57720FA132
Rear spats: X5771FA000

| jproland | 12-21-2006 08:50 AM |
cheapest and easiest thing to do would be to buy a "peanut eye" impreza..
| eyeless99prez | 12-21-2006 08:50 AM |
The numbers that i got were ..
Front bumpers:
57720FA071 this one did come up in our system but not in stock..

You cant get the jdm rear bumper from SOA, the part number will not work. Its only a subaru of japan part which you have to import, or buy used, or import used. We got lucky with the V4 bumper part number working in our systems.
Try searching a little more for exactly what you want to do with your car, everything is doable with the right amount of money ... you just have to figure out what you want to do.

Please don't. I would kill to have a GC8, especially with your front end. (I don't like the huge foglights)

I too have seen this, but it started as a 93 L. Also, it's "anyone," not "neone." That is all.

Depending on how much money you have to spend, it is very doable. However, I'm not sure if the hood from either years will fit as they are different headlight shapes. In the event you really went through with it, you would be getting into custom cut hoods. This project could run upwards in the area of at least $10,000 due to the labor it would take to do something like this and there is no guarantee it will even remotely resemble what you had in mind. The viable, affordable and altogether better option is to scour the web for parts for a GC8 impreza. There is a wide variety of absolutely sick looking body kits, headlights, foglights and hoods that will turn your car into a headturner without forcing you into a nightmare of debt.

look closer at the spelling. converSTIon. a lucky typo! oh, and to the guy that says it's a shame to put a gc8 face on a blobeye, gtfo. they're the original wrx, and everything since the gc8 has been a compromise in favor of comfort and flashiness. yes i drive a blobeye wagon, but i def. respect the gc8.
