Good Floor Mats? part 1

AK_2002_WRX 10-28-2004 03:17 AM

Good Floor Mats?
hey everyone,
i just got an 05 STi and am lovin the interior....as of now winter is on its way up here in Anchorage,AK and i wanna keep the blue carpet looking good. i plan on using some kind of fabric/carpet protector like 3M or scotch guard...
but i need some good floor mats. the subaru all weather ones look pretty good, do they do a good job keeping things clean?

i am also leaning towards these husky liner ones, my parents and sister have em in their trucks and they do a great job....anyone using these?
i think they have some for subarus also.

i too was thinking of this. but not too sure if they have one that fits the subaru wrx's
but i have a site that i normally order from and it is free delivery. not bad for the same price as others and same products.

i have them and i love them. i've been advocating these forever but no one seems to care for it's looks. i guess i'm more function over form. no more stupid clips to hold them in place. cleaning them is simple. hose them off, wipe them down. they trap everything. floorboards are as spotless as the day i picked up the car.
Subahaulic 10-28-2004 07:30 AM

I had these but they slid all over the place--probably none for STi anyway.

Looks like they will cover the gas hatch/trunk release levers.

the nubs hold them in place just fine for me. 2yrs in now.

and there is a cut out for the gas and trunk release.

I use the subaru all weather floor mats, they do a pretty damn good job of keeping things clean. My only gripe is that the passenger side mat is not really fit for that side, i'll try to take some pictures to show you guys but the driver's side is money.

The driver side slides VERY slightly but after you adjust it once you don't need to touch it anymore (it usually slides forward) when I enter the car.

Hope this helps

I've had my Subaru All-Season/Winter mats for a couple of years now and my carpeted mats and floorboard are clean enough to eat off of

It's true that they're not as big as they should be, but they do a really good job IMO of keeping the carpet clean. Some have conplained that they don't stay positioned very well. What I do and some others have done is simply place them over the carpeted mats and they stick really well in place.

I also use the Subaru All-Season/Winter mats. My carpets still look brand new after 1 year of use including a winter.

I was going to get the Subaru all weather floor mats for my '03 Forester, then realized they were FIFTY DOLLARS. So I just bought black heavy duty rubber floor mats from Walmart for $12. They're in the car section and work great.
AK_2002_WRX 10-28-2004 08:20 PM

any pictures of the husky liner floor mats in your guy's cars? do the subaru ones keep the side parts of the carpet clean also, the parts right next to your right leg and the passengers left leg?

You should have bought a KIA with that type of mentality. Why do people spend 25+ grand on a car and then cheap out on the accessories.

Because the OEM once are only arguably better than the Wallmart ones. But, yeah, you have a valid point.

pics of the husky liner in my 02 wrx. and yes, i know, it's a little dirty. be rest assured, underneath still looks brand new.

I'm a fan of the Subaru all-weather floormats. I had them in my '03 WRX when it was flooded. There was all sorts of good stuff in the mats when I pulled them out. Underneath the mats was spotless, if I had only taken a picture of the car when they were taken out.

Also, I washed the mats and now have them in my '05 STi. Not too shabby, if I do say so myself.

^^^^^^ Dang man, that's a mess.
AK_2002_WRX 10-29-2004 05:14 PM

thanks migs76....do you have a link of where you purchased them?

thanks!
migs76 10-29-2004 05:30 PM

to be honest, i got them so long ago, i forgot. i'm sure if you googled "husky liners" you could find a bunch of online retailers.
949 10-29-2004 05:41 PM

who has a good price for these liner husky mats?
AK_2002_WRX 10-29-2004 05:42 PM

also migs76...they didnt interfere with the pedals at all?
migs76 10-29-2004 06:30 PM

not in my experience, no.
pjbluvas 11-29-2004 04:46 PM

I just purchased the Husky floor mats and they do an awesome job of keeping the carpet protected.

However, they did catch on the clutch pedal which created a pretty dangerous situation for me on the highway returning from a ski trip.

Anyone else have issues with these mats interfering with pedals? Any tips on how to keep them securely tacked down to the carpet?

This is about the cheapest place I could find them.

i've had my set of floor liners for 2 years, zero problems here. i guess you could heat them up where they catch, then trim bits here and there.

wait...do you have the floor mats or floor liners?
pjbluvas 11-29-2004 05:57 PM

I have the floor liners. The problem was that the arm for the clutch pedal catches on the edge of the liner when you press/unpress the pedal. This causes the liner to get stuck between your foot and the pedal.
migs76 11-29-2004 06:07 PM

hmm...the front edge should go far enough into the footwell, so it shouldn't be an issue. have you tried placing them a bit more forward? i mean, it should be placed just like the pic i posted of the front passenger. it seems far enough to the front where the pedal shouldn't catch it.
sepharad 05-19-2007 02:49 PM

Floor and cargo liners that fit
Im looking for something that really FITS an '88 gl wagon. I dont much care about price but really want them right.

I bought Costco's and they will need to be cut up to get around various pedals and humps, which sort of makes them pointless.

When I see the word Universal I feel like running away.

Also, is there any parts place that specifically serves older subarus like GL's?

Thanks seph
Wadezo419 05-19-2007 03:20 PM

anyone seen those nice BRIDE mats? too bad they're in the 100's :(
WRXDriftR 05-19-2007 08:48 PM

Subaru All Weather mats are a waste. Mine tore through within a year of constant use because the raised ridges have no support below them. They get crushed under your foot and eventually crack through.

get something better
Dhcheckeracer 05-20-2007 02:06 PM

my carpet mats look brand new.. oh wait they are because my car came with a set of all weather mats that i only use.. but they slide... sometimes ill be driving and my clutch will stick and ill look down and the mats clinging on the clutch..kinda of a pain but you get used to it
MarkRx 05-20-2007 03:30 PM

I've never been a fan of the heavy duty floor mats, esp when they look like trash bags. I'll stick with these... well worth the $65 imo.
