Got Recaros installed in my WRX, finally!
After 4 hours of grinding MY00 Impreza brackets, they are in!

Nice SRDs. A buddy of mine has them and they're awesome. I've sat in Corbeau's and Sparco's, but I probably like these the best. They're very comfortable. The only thing I didn't like is that it had a dial for the incline/decline. Nice seats! :) From the pic, it looks like the rears are still stock.

Yes, the rear seats are stock, but I plan to get matching
Recaro fabric and recover the rear seats and the door panel

There is a chassis bump/ridge near the mounting hole
closest to the seat belt bracket. What I had to do is grind
off a triangle shaped piece off the square seat bracket to
clear the bump. Even with the grinding, it did not go down
far enough (the hole is slotted) so it sat 1/2" higher in that
corner. What I did to fix that was used a 1/2" spacer on the
other side of the bracket and a longer bolt to make the
rear of the seat sit level to the floor. Also, the seat belt
bracket will hit the center console, so I just had to bend
it back a little to clear. I'll get some better looking spacers
made, as I'm just using a big nut... but overall I'm pleased
with the fit.

Ya man they look really good. what u pay for em?? And how long did it take u to put them in? My friend just got the new 337 GTI with the Recaros in them and they look kinda like those but there the most comfortable seats ever. Good choice.

The brackets were $60 each, and took about 5 hours to
install. Lots and lots of grinding and test fitting.
The seats were $650 each and the sliders were $65 each.
$1550 total

The SRD's are OK, I used to have OMP REC's in my AE86, those
were much better seats... lighter weight, firmer padding,
more supportive, stronger reclining mechanism, ETC. I have
to re-adjust the SRD's every few days, the reclining mechanism
creeps.

I fit the SRD in the GC8 with out any problem. Just wonder why you have to grinded the bracket? Where did you get the bracket and slider from?? The price that you paid for is very good. Please, let me know where you get them because I'm getting a WRX soon and I have no idea if the bracket on the GC8 will fit WRX or not.

to grind but take a long time due to the thickness
of the metal.
These are Wedge brackets, that EVERYONE and their
mother uses... I ordered them from [url]www.seatsource.com[/url]
Took about 2 weeks to get. The sliders are Recaro brand.
If anyone is wondering, no one makes recaro brackets
for a GD8, yet. :)

The door strikers are really strong as they have to hold the door shut in a side impact as long as you stress them the way they were designed just having the submarine belts attached to them should be okay. I wouldn't mount the lap belts or shoulder belts to them by any means. If someone is interested I can post some pics of what I'm talking about... [/B][/QUOTE]
