Greddy Evo2. Does this look right? part 1

Greddy Evo2. Does this look right?
Here are some pics of my Greddy Evo2.
It has 0 miles on it. All the pics I can find of greddy exhausts certainly dont show them as looking like this. I assumed it was polished.
Anyone else have this exhaust and can verify?
Large pics to show detail
thanks'

The exhaust in the picture is of a Greddy EVO system, not the newer EVO2.

you sure?
Laugh Damon 01-07-2005 09:09 PM

Yeah that the Evo... Evo2 would be polished all the way back to the cat, but the muffler is exactly the same.
Laugh Damon 01-07-2005 09:10 PM

double
joe r 01-07-2005 09:17 PM

thats just the evo not the evo2 exhaust.

surprised you found a brand new evo1 exhaust, I know greddy has been discountinuing them for over a year now. Well, hopefully you didn't pay full price for it since its an old model.
the_owl 01-07-2005 11:45 PM

My receipt says Evo2
I paid $570.
didnt come with vaseline though.
:furious:
Is there a performance difference ?
Laugh Damon 01-08-2005 01:03 AM

nope, unless you live in a salty area, then it will just rust faster

Where did you buy it from? I got mine from performancecenter.com almost a year ago
xEclipsE RaceRx 01-08-2005 01:05 AM

partial refund DAMNIT! for some reason im pissed for you, that sux man
Akina 01-08-2005 01:09 AM

Yup, same on that my brother put on his. Its not a 2, if I were you I'd ask the seller whats up.
MF-DIF 01-08-2005 04:01 AM

They sold you the wrong item. You have the right to a refund/replacement.
offset 01-08-2005 10:01 AM

Yep, get a (big) partial refund or return it. But please tell us who the vendor was.

I dont want to say till I get a hold of them to see if it was an honest mistake from the distributor, or a rip.
samowrx 01-08-2005 03:04 PM

definately the evo1. i'd definately return it for the stainless steel version.
Filanwizard 01-08-2005 03:16 PM

definatly return for the full stainless if you live on a coastline or in a area that gets winter. infact roadsalt probally eats exaust systems faster then salt air from the ocean.
spooledwrx 01-08-2005 11:53 PM

Should have gone w/ HKS! Sucks to be you btw...
olsaltybastard 01-09-2005 02:18 PM

Like everyone else has stated, that is NOT an EVO2. I had the EVO1 on another car of mine, and that is what you have. The aluminized coating on there will protect against rust for a while, but eventually it will happen. In all honesty, the rest of the car will rust out before the piping does.

So I can sound like a fart can? Thanks but Ill pass on the Rice.
I chose the Greddy for the quietness of it.

Update on it:
The shop installing the stuff put that exhaust in temp. because the EVO2 hadnt arrived yet.
New (Evo2) exhaust is installed now.
Getting dynoed on Tuesday.

Thanks for the help everyone.
Laugh Damon 01-09-2005 10:38 PM

Weird, so they just stuck in the evo just until the evo2 arrived and could be installed?

Oh well, let me know how the dyno runs turn out, what other mods have you done to the engine?

The install is a big one at KingPin performance. It was done over the New Years Weekend.
The Greddy Didnt make it in. so they put something in place expecting to dyno tune that Sunday.. Well there was a few "issues". Thats what I was told and it sounds reasonable to me.

Heres my THREAD on the rest of install. Its a big one.
Laugh Damon 01-10-2005 12:21 AM

damn that is awesome... I was hoping you had a N/A 2.5 rs so I could see what I might pull at a dyno.... hahaha, guess not!

Good luck with the STi
olsaltybastard 01-10-2005 02:00 AM

Sounds pretty reasonable. Instead of not getting your car back as you expected, they put in another exhaust to hold you over. That's actually kinda cool!!
Wraith 01-10-2005 01:51 PM

Yeah but they never told you that till you asked, right? It sounds like it went something like this...

the_owl: Why did you sell me a version 2 and put on a version 1?
the shop: ummm.......... well uh....... see what had happened was it was temporary, just for the weekend. Thats our LOANER exhaust.
the_owl: So am I gonna get a version 2?
the shop: yes of course, its already been ordered! Can you hold a second? ("Bob, order an evo2 exhaust, asap!") We should have it ready for you shortly.

FWIW I've never heard of a "loaner" exhaust before.
Laugh Damon 01-10-2005 07:58 PM

Its because he HAD to get a dyno tune that day, and the exhaust hadn't come in yet, so they just put on evo1, exact same, for the dyno tune.
the_owl 01-10-2005 08:04 PM
Yeah but they never told you that till you asked, right? It sounds like it went something like this...
You could be absolutley right. I havent taken the car since the install. Its still in Arizona.
I never asked them about the exhaust, they never told me till it was brought up. This is a major install, lots of parts, problems and changes. So something this small could easily be overlooked. We were reall concerned about the UTEC problems and the manifold leak all that weekend
It could very well be that they had bad intentions, Ill never know, but they have been pretty straight forward with everything else.
I cant argue with you, nor defend them.
I do appreciate the help in pointing it out.

It sounds like if they did alot of work, you may want to double check the other stuff too to be safe.
Quack 01-11-2005 08:31 AM

Evo2's only have 1 resonator
Kingpin 01-11-2005 09:51 AM

Clark actually runs the EVO on his car and to be able to make the tune we pulled his exhaust and installed on the cutomers car. There was a mix up with Fedex delivery thinking that we were closed on New Year's Eve when in fact we were there at 5AM and stayed until 11:30PM that night. They setup a redelivery of the exhaust but in order to get it tuned Clark steped up and pulled his exhuast off. All this was for not as the UTEC had some bugs and we had to wait for a new one to arrive. The Greddy EVO2 was fitted the following day and is on the car now.

Keep in mind we worked the entire New Year's Weekend for this customer. Arriving very early and staying very late to ensure this car was finsihed by it's deadline. We replaced a bad UTEC that the customer brought in with a brand new one from our stock with no questions asked. We did everything in our power to satisfy this customer and his needs. I am surprised that Owl does not mention the lengths that we went to for him on this project. If you have any questions regarding our reputation or integrity check into it. Ask around. Or look here:

It seems Owl did mention in his other thread about the vast amounts of effort you guys went through for him; it was just missed in this thread. Had he posted his question in the other thread with the rest of the info, and knowing the real situation I am sure people wouldn't have been so quick to condemn the unknown company. Now that I know the full story, I have to believe that it was just another example of a great vendor going the extra mile for the customer and nothing else.
