Help find the "right" rear wing for '04 STi

Okay, I love my '04 STi, except for the rear wing. I don't hate it, but I just don't care for it, either. In my ideal world I'd probably have a WRX spoiler or no wing at all.
I hoped the WRX spoiler would just bolt on using the same holes as the STi wing. That doesn't appear to be the case, though I'd welcome corrections on this. So what I'd like to find is an aftermarket spoiler that *will* use the same STi wing holes (no extra drilling) and has a nice clean look. Something low.
I know I can get a whole new decklid and add a WRX spoiler, but I'd rather not go to quite that level of expense. Also, I plan to keep my STi wing to put back on in the event that I autocross it (because if I do it'll be in AS and it'll have to have the wing on it) and for resale.
Any suggestions?

i think that the STi spoiler has a whole bunch of studs going across the back of the trunk. i'm having the same problem, want a different spoiler (or none at all), but dont want holes in my trunk.

I'd say go with the prodrive rear wing... its still a functional high rear wing, but just not a gaudy as the stock STi wing...

prodrive is uglier by far!

Trade your trunk for a regular WRX trunk. Lots of STi owners have done it. The ricier WRX owners love it too, it adds no go, but it sure adds show.

Can't "trade" as I need to keep the stock setup for autocross use (stock class rules). Given that, I'd have to buy a WRX trunk lid, have it painted, buy the spoiler (those come painted), and then use that to swap. That would have to be several hundred more than an aftermarket spoiler.
The Prodrive looks okay, but I saw a car that had a "V6 replica" spoiler on it I thought looked pretty good. Any ideas on what that was and where to get it (assuming it would work with the STi stock mounting holes at all)?

Version 6 not made for the 02-04 cars. Made for the GC body. And im not aware of any version 6 replicas for the GD, but there is a V7 and a replica 22b wing for it.

Any pointers to those? Curious what they look like. I've done some searching, but not really been able to find much using normal methods. I'm a scoobie newbie. :-)

 you do know the wing isnt exculsive to just the sti trim right? its also on the v-limited wrx model :D oh and the wrx nb-r in japan....
the term ricer is equivalent to the show class, but is to far fetched when the same wing is on other GD trims....

you're more than likely gonna have to swap trunk lids
unfortunately, that's really the easiest way to go

swapping trunks would not break any rules. its the same peice, just with differnt wings
its just easier to swap.. i swapped mine for a STI because im a ricey WRX owner

I don't think there's any aftermarket spoiler that uses/covers all the STi decklid's holes. Certainly not a low one.
I tried it with just a plain TS decklid, but I thought it was a bit unbalanced looking. Then I added the Mines replica. Still very inconspicuous.

modified toys over in the group buy section. i don't think they're making any more. some big fiasco. if you got the bucks, give fizz autosports in new york a call. they have the real deal. real deal = carbon fiber = expensive.

Personally I am partial to the Scoobysport spoiler. The Kaminari also looks nice.
But don't let anyone tell you about the "Ver7" spoiler. The "Ver7 replica" spoilers you see are Ver6 replicas made to fit the New Age trunk. The Ver7 STi came with the same dinky little wing that the WRX comes with.

I bought the Mines replica from one of the group-buy participants that didn't want it. He had done a lot of sanding and bondo already and it needed even more--not the best fit.
It's a really simple piece. Any fiberglass shop should be able to make them easily. I'm surprised there aren't more options for decklid spoilers for these cars, given that the WRX has been out for several years now.
One other low profile option is the German market OEM rear spoiler:

Someone is looking into doing a low wing that would bolt to the STi lower section (the stock wing is two piece).
Lower wing
Also the Syms wing bolts to the STi lower section
Syms wing
The Syms wing looks to be similar to the STi wing in size with a better wing shape and adjustable (and likely stiffer to eliminate flutter).
So if you want a less obtrusive wing help is on the way, if you want a better wing (aerodynamicly) you can get the Syms. And a different upper section should be much easier to install and/or change out for the track than a complete wing.

Not true.....you are forgetting about Version 7 Prodrive STi's in Europe and Japan. They had the rally-inspired (not ricey...you want ricey order a wing from JC Whitney's or Autozone) wing before we even saw an STi in the States. And, the Ver. 7 wing is alot more stable at high speeds than the Ver. 8 wing and doesn't have that ugly removable panel under the top plane - I personally think that's why it flaps at 70mph. My Prodrive Ver. 7 wing is solid across and stable at all speeds.

I think I talked to the same guy about buying it. He had put in lots of work to make the fit and finish much nicer than it was originally. He wanted like 200 for it or something.
