Help with picking rims part 1

Help with picking rims..
Hi guys,

I just recently picked up my 04 WRX, I am though very stuck on picking rims. Really don't know what rims to go for, I would appreciate input on this matter. I have seen numerous Rims in the member gallery, but wanted to know what you think would look nice on an 04 WRX.

Please note that I am willing to pay about 1700 for rims at most.

Thanks!
ANashTy 03-02-2004 06:59 PM

depends .. is that 1700 with tires?? What size do you want? Colors? Do you like polished lips? Will you be upgrading brakes in the future? any particular patterns youre fond of?
jonik 03-02-2004 07:24 PM

No, that isn't 1700 with tires, well really not sure about the color (that is the problem), but take into consideration that it is a silver WRX so it really can't match with everything. Yes brakes will be upgraded in the future.
ANashTy 03-02-2004 07:51 PM

Well .. theyre are many choices for $1700 without tires. You can afford some Volks, Advans, Weds Sport, Work ... pretty much everything except for the HIGH End Prodrive/Volks/Advans/etc.

And its always cheaper to find used wheels, so maybe you should check out the private for sale and get an idea of what you might want.

Been to Suby Dude?
http://www.subydude.com
He sells Rota's, which are frankly at the low end of what you are looking to spend. You could pretty much get some 18" Rota's with tires for $1700....lol. (Just FYI - I have a set of 17" Rota SDR's on my 04 and I'm VERY pleased with the wheels.)
But! I'm sending you there because the site has a large gallery of wheel colors on Suby's. Worth spending some time browsing to get a feel for what you like.
Of course, you may find you really like the Rota's and the grand I just saved you on wheels can be put somewhere else.
*cough* tips accepted *cough* ;)

OZ
I have the gray supperleggeras on my 03 WRX sedan. Love them.. they are light and easy to keep clean. They should be around 1500 for a set, maybe even less. if ya want pics let me know.

I went with 17" OZ SL's in silver. Well under 1700 with tires.
They're stunning. Not sure if their would be issues if you decide to upgrade your brakes though.
With the money you're willing to spend you could buy something really high end & rare. Can't go wrong with Volks.

Love those wheels. Bronze with your silver car would look good, too.

I have heard from numerous people that Volk is in the top 5 in quality purposes. Even from my past experiences with Volk, you just can't go wrong with them.
thisisbrock 03-04-2004 11:35 AM

oh, i understand that. i agree that volk has great wheels. i was just wondering if maybe you had heard something about he linea limix's. I have heard only good things about them. Mine are on the way!

Yeah, don't get me wrong, I havn't heard anything bad about Limix's but I have just heard too many good stuff about the Volk rims to pass them up.
stirex 03-04-2004 01:34 PM

SSR Comps look awesome on silver :)
Linea's are sweet but not many brakes fit under them
Volk's are great wheels, but they are too common

I have yet to see a set of volks in person on any car.
I would think their pricetag & the wait time would make them pretty rare.
jonik 03-04-2004 09:20 PM

I just had somebody refer me to these:

I think im in love, it looks amazing.

What do you guys think.

All is well, you can come down to Burbank and take a joy ride :)
EROCK 03-04-2004 11:25 PM

If money isn't an issue, its hard to beat those Volk LE's in gunmetal, can't do much better. For my 04 its going to be Gunmetal Rota Tarmac II's as I need to keep the expenses down.

Sure you don't want to save $1300 and buy mine??
