I love Speed TV part 1

I love Speed TV
I have been setting the ole TiVo to record some races that come on in the middle of the day and at the crack of dawn. I have been up to my eye balls in BTCC, Aussie V8s, Euro F3000, Euro Touring Cars and DTM. Every day I get home I have a little racing present waiting for me in my magical TV box!
Dr. WOT 01-03-2005 12:19 PM

tivo is great... since you bring it up I have a question...

if a program has a generic "Auto Racing" tag in the guide, like the WRC coverage, is there anyway to get it to set a season pass fort it to record just WRC events without getting all the other "Auto Racing" episodes?
artkevin 01-03-2005 12:42 PM

I actually have a comcast DVR box but as far as I can tell, no. If I set up a season pass for "auto racing" I will get all of the Monster trucks and NASCAR along with F1 and WRC and such. I wish they would put better tags on them.

Yes, do a Wishlist for the entire title. Click on info to get the title. I do it for "Auto Racing: World Challenge Touring", etc.

Exactly!

Using wishlist are the best. (Tivo)
Here's an example of my wish lists:

FIA Formula 1
FIA Rally
GT Speed
Porsche Supercup
WRC
(don't just type in "rally" thou as you'll get something else..)
bezerk 01-03-2005 03:00 PM

too bad they don't have the Dakar on any more.
supersport 01-04-2005 01:57 PM

I really liked the European Race of Champions! WAY BETTER than IROC!

 I really don't understand the massive following..

Hmm.. let's watch a car go in a circle for an hour -- THAT'LL BE FUN!
WRXFan420 01-04-2005 09:36 PM

I think the only reason people watch Nascar is for the great crashes.

[QUOTE=jmolaver] I really don't understand the massive following..

Yea ok, You must be really dumb and disappointed when you follow the sport just to see a car crash. What if there`s no crash?!! LOL You gotta expect that from a redneck. Personally I like WRC, Formula Uno (real Name),and European Cup races.
Rallycarperson 01-05-2005 09:04 PM

More rally, rally, rally! And Dakar...

SpeedTV is scimping on rally, and adding more freakin NASCAR.

race courses still end up making a circle. But i agree...nascar is lame.

The races last 3 - 5 hours, and you sit and drink beer the entire time. Not really that bad a deal.

The constant sound of 40+, 800 hp V-8's is pretty cool too.

I like most forms of racing better than NASCAR, but the alternative is sticks and balls.

I'll watch NASCAR 100 times before the NBA.

Done! The problem was that I had overlooked the "Record this wishlist" option (DUH!! ) and was only using it to search. Now I have "Rally" and "MotoGP" scheduled, and I can just sit back and relax

(F1 gets a unique tag so I already has a season pass for it, in fact it is ranked #1 on the priority list)

Thanks again for the tip.

I just saw the schedule for speed tv and i wanna know why they put Race of Champions and WRC mag. on at the hours where no one watches tv. wrc comes on at 3 am.  i would like to stay up for it but im still in highschool and its a b**** to wake up in the morning

hmmm.. I think I'd take my beer to go...

Don't get me wrong, there's nothing i'd rather do in the world then race a car, but I stood on the tower at VIR for about 15 minutes and I thought my brain was going to melt from the noise.. And mixed classes at VIR (porche cup, 355 challenge, etc) got nothing on the power/noise of nascars.. I couldn't imagine sitting through 5 hours of that..

the nba does suck tho..

I`m just assuming they`re live events.

Any oval racing is so hard to watch live to me for that reason. At Texas Motorspeedway there is just one constant sound on V-8 that never increases or decreases other then on yellow flag pit tops. F1 engines are much much louder and whinyer but at least they come and go on a road course.

Dr. Wot,

Did you do a Keyword Wishlist with the category as "Sport: Auto"?

My TIVO recorded the Australia V8 Supercar race at Bathurst yesterday. If NASCAR followed this format I'd be a diehard fan.
