I'm Hank3 and I'm a Prodrive addict - please help part 1

I'm Hank3 and I'm a Prodrive addict - please help
OK, what started out as a simple makeover of switching my British Pewter PFF7s to Anthracite ones has turned into something beyond my control. I just ordered a Prodrive front lip this morning. Now I'm trying to decide on what I need to do about the rear of my car. Others have posted in the past about the P-lip being subtle (not a bad thing) and having a rear lip hanging lower than the front would make the car look uneven. So my dilemma is if I should keep my OEM rear lip, go with an EGR lip (if I can source one), go with another lip (Orciari maybe), or just go lipless in the rear.

There are enough pics of my ride foating around on here so I'll simply link you to the most recent pics of my ride:

Thanks for your feedback :)

Hi Hank3! [waves AA style]

I always really liked the OEM kit.
Hank3 03-17-2005 04:10 PM

Thank you mbiker97 :)

I like the OEM kit a lot too (may still keep it if the Prodrive lip doesn't cover up the holes in front from the OEM lip), but the Prodrive lip was a LONG term goal of mine that finally came to fruition no thanks to my ghetto mind and a good deal this morning :furious:

I have the Orciari kit on my wagon and am very pleased. It includes front lip, upper and lower grill, side skirts and rear lip (last item has been molded to the body). The front and rear lips had to be modified to work on the wagon. Not sure how much the kit and install ran since the previous owner had it done. His loss, my gain.

Too bad our cars arent the same color, we could trade. I'd install the Prodrive lip and see how you like it if the rear is too big you could always sell it and go without. I don't really like he lines of the Orciari unless you use the Orciari side skirts also.
enewtabie 03-18-2005 10:25 AM

Keep the oem rear and go with the prodrive lip..Thats what I'm gonna do.
conker69 03-18-2005 10:29 AM

Where do you guys get information about Prodrive products and where do you purchase them. Prodrive's website is useless.
enewtabie 03-18-2005 10:38 AM

hotsubaru.com
subaruxtras.com
allsubaru.com

Hank
Did you ever sell your prodrive wheels?

Also I should have a new piece of prodrive bling before anyone else next week.
conker69 03-18-2005 10:40 AM

Thanks!

Erick - what would you swap with me? My OEM lip? ;)

BTW - what body shop did you get your stuff done at again? You think they would do a good job on painting my P-lip and having it match as well as can be expected? I know white is probably one of the tougher colors to match...especially mine being three years old now :(

enew - I hope it won't look too bad with the rear OEM lip becuase I really do like all of the components to the entire OEM bodykit. We shall see. BTW - did you order your P-lip yet? I got mine yesterday for $225 shipped from hotsubaru.com's St. Patty's Sale :) The wheels are pretty much sold...I'm just waiting for the MO to arrive - why? Should be today or early next week - then I'll just have to wait for the new ones to clear customs in CA; then Prodrive will drop ship them to me. I already purchased the tires and they're waiting at the local Discount Tire warehouse waiting to be mounted (Toyo Proxes 4 - 225/40/18).

conker - Prodrive's main Web site is OK, but I think most of us find out about Prodrive stuff from the multiple vendors that carry/source Prodrive products. They often loop us in on what Prodrive is doing and releasing. Once in a while I'll go to Prodrive's Japan site to see what's there in hopes of maybe getting to the US market one day. Also, there's a close-knit group of us that are Prodrive fanatics that help one another with the info :)

Hank, where did you order the front lip from? Are you getting the entire bumper or just the lip? I kinda like the bumper and realyl want the side splitters which I am thinking might work together without much trouble, plus a cf s203 lip!!
kennyvb 03-18-2005 11:26 AM

stay with the oem please
Hank3 03-18-2005 11:42 AM

kpmatt00 - I ordered the lip only from www.hotsubaru.com

kennyvb - point well-taken :)
Hank3 03-18-2005 11:42 AM

Bah - double post :furious:

I want the "delete" function back again :D

hi Hank3

-- another idea -- how about:
1. Selling the OEM front and rear lip,
2. Buying a set of front/rear JDM Aeroguards, colormatch them white.
3. Use the leftover money from your OEM front and rear lip sale towards the matching prodrive wing that is part of the "aero kit" (can't remember if you have it already)

sorry for bringing up yet another idea!

I think the JDM aeroguards look subtly great -- plus they give you "a little" mud/splash protection, albeit very little. I can try to dig up some pics if you think this is a route you want to take.

cheers!

I have the aero guards, but they are not installed yet, so you Check this link of CC's car, it has the aero guards and looks sweet.

Dendrobium 03-18-2005 01:13 PM

Saved you a search ;)

-- the JDM aeroguards I'm referring to are the little pieces just aft of the front wheel, and just aft of the rear wheel in the below pic.

www.japanparts.com has them pre-painted, or you can try to source them from Canada (unpainted) for cheaper.
banta80 03-18-2005 03:31 PM

i'll buy the oem front lip off you hank3 if u haven't found a buyer yet. let me know, thanks
banta80 03-18-2005 03:33 PM

oh yea, i'll buy the rear too
Hank3 03-18-2005 07:01 PM

Dendro - thanks for chiming in with some great ideas :) I will defintely look into the JDM Aeroguards if the OEM rear lip winds up looking bad with the P-lip. Too bad the Aeroguards are $305 + shipping  or else I would get a pair for my sideskirt and the rear. How much are they unpainted from Canada? I don't mind those since I could get them painted the same time my lip is :)

WagonMonster - you got me all figured out except for the tatoos, white skin, cowboy hat, guitar, and body mass. Try no markings on my body, Chinese, buzz cut, drums, and 5'5

banta - I"ve got two buyers lined up already for the front lip. If I do get rid of the rear lip, you can have first dibs. PM me with your offer so I'll remember if I do post it up for sale.

Oh I meant to swap your rear with my JDM rear mudguards...

My car was painted at Quality Auto Body, they are ok... I'd see how much Roslunds (sp?) wants, I've heard nothin but good about them and they fixed MF-DIF's car and my buddy's BMW, both look really good and the owners aren't complaining. I could point out flaws to you all day on my paintjob/bodywork... I'm actully wanting to bring it back and get them to do their "lifetime warranty" work becuase some spots are starting to chip where they decided to mask off something instead of removing parts before they sprayed (lazy).
03MBP 03-18-2005 10:03 PM

I've been converted, slowly..but the prices are driving me away. Just got my Prodrive muffler and springs.
Hank3 03-18-2005 11:00 PM

OK, thanks Erick - will make some calls next week.

03MBP - Prodriv prices have driven my social life and food away - no money left in the checking account after my modding ways take over
garie 03-19-2005 05:46 AM

im glad prodrive has dropped their prices on most of their products.....
03MBP 03-19-2005 10:37 AM

I was dying for the Prodrive mud flaps...but $222? Damn! Maybe a set of uk300's will pop up in my future.
