Impreza L ground effects
I own a 1998 RS. For those who may not know, it shared the front bumper with the Impreza L and the Outback. 1999 was when RS' received the ver. 4/5 front bumper. Anyway, I was wondering if someone knows of any front lip spoilers for the L style bumper, or if the other versions' lip spoilers fit. Thanx...

Umm i have the same problem, and i dont have an answer. I have been waiting and waiting. I remeber back a month or two ago, some guy with a Silver RS in Canada posted pics of his RS with a lip that would fit our bumpers, sorry i forgot what the link was, try doing a search under MY98 lip spoilers. Anyway, that lip was the best looking one i have seen for our cars, but the problem is that its only manufactured in Canada, so shipping would be a problem. Again try doing a search.

Ok guy's It looks like there may be enough interest, to do another GB, I only need 10 people.
The current run is now being delivered, when mine is mounted on my car I will get a few shots of how it matches the stock skirts etc.
I think I will start another GB at the begining of April how does that sound?

They don't make the ground effects/spoiler for the 96 and earlier cars anymore. They used to have a two piece design. I don't know, maybe a dealer can still get them?
I used to have the brochure for them but it has since been lost in all the desk drawer clutter.
(I have a 96 Brighton but it has been updated with the 2000 body style now)

Sign me up for the GB! :D
So how does it mount? Does it require drilling holes in any unsightly places? Who makes it? What's it made from? So many questions...
More pictures would be great.

This is the original GB thread

Anyone who is intersted can post there and I will keep track of who is interested.
The lip is gel coated fibreglass, it mount with 6 screws and does require you to drill some hole's in the underside of the bumper.
It comes down and out about 2".
I will have a bunch more pictures for you this week somtime.

I'd love to get the lip but I also need the stock front bumper cover as well.
Any sellers? or places I might try? Or overstuffed garages?

If you're looking for the stock bumper cover try a parts request here:
http://www.halspartsandservice.com/requestapart.htm
They replied to me quickly, and their price for a NEW version 5 front bumper cover was $170.
What bumper do you have on your car now?

Since there might be a group buy being organized soon, how about trying to get this lip as well, this one gathered more attention last time it was posted..
and i have some info on it too.

this was also a "Canadian" lip too, apparently made by a company called "Promax".
Tigo(the owner of the car) provided a phone number htat i called and well, i didnt get a company, maybe it was hte wrong number..
the lip was about 200US, made of fiberglass, and extends down about 2.5 inches i think.
if anyone has group buying power..im definatly interested in this lip, becuase i want to keep my "MY98 front bumper...somehow i ended up with a "98" bumper on my 97L tho...so dont forget about us MY97 owners..we had that bumper before you, .
but anyway, if anyone can get that lip, im definitly interested! speaking of making copies of lips, any chance anyone can mke copies of sideskirts so i can get em cheaper? hehe, its all i need now.

While these two lip spoilers look great, I still wonder whether any of the V4 or V5 lip spoilers would fit the L style bumper. Does anyone know?
Also the Greddy and Prova ones which are almost identical. does anyone have a picture of either of these ( which are advertised as a fit for the 98 RS) actually fitted to our neglected bumper cover?
I also just wanted to add that I think it's cool that all of you want to keep that L style. It's the true north AMERICAN (canada)(Australia?) WRX look. As far as I know the European markets and Japanese markets never offered this look. It is ours and it is factory. As you all can see, by that silver impreza especially, our L look can be just as sinister looking as any of the JDM looks.

actually..i like the second lip better than the first. i think, imo, it looks more aggressive and i like aggressive.

The Greddy lip can be modded to fit there is a picture floating around here. The promax lip is a nice piece also, It would look great with some aftermarket skirts. Just dont be a biter and get the V5 I love our old school bumper It is quite rare now on an RS ;)

Count me in for the GB on the second lip. Thanks

i think this is the Greddy lip modified to fit the old-school bumper.
from what i heard, it wasnt cheap or easy to do, so unless you really like the look, i wouldnt recommend it.
if anyone can get info on the true price and availability of hte "Promax" lip(silver one), im sure many of us would be greatful, a bunch of us would easily sign up for a group buy on it.

Not bad...NOt bad at all. Probably couldn't ditch my front signal lights like that if I still wanted to drive it on the street, but the rest is very nice. Do you have any more info on this car or its parts?

Wow....I really am interested in a "Canadian" spec lip for my Canadian 2001 RS. I too prefer the look of hte second lip, & would like to get in on a group buy; however I don't want to pay much more than $350 CDN shipped. What will be the price of the first and second lip shown?????
Are there any other lips available to be bought from Canadian dealers (paying in US sucks when you are working with devaluated Can $s).
Whoever is orgnaizing the group buys would you please PM me and keep me posted s I am really interested.
Thanks a lot guys.....as always :p

You can move the signals to the corners. The only thing I remeber about that car is that it's damn fast.
