Bling Bling Galore :D
OEM Setup:

SPT 6061 Aluminum cap:

aaand... the close up!

Goes really well w/my Prodrive Battery tie down :D
(also gunmetal in color)
Upsides: looks great! fits well, is heavy, solid - not cheap in any way.
Downsides:
Kind of pricey considering it does not come with a new gasket
You must remove the gasket from your OEM cap and reinstall on the SPT cap
enjoy!

Are there any plans for other SPT underhood items like a dipstick, steering fluid cap, etc... The yellow plastic is obnoxious, and while painting is an option, the finish on the SPT cap and tie down is appealing.
| Subie Gal | 07-04-2006 12:22 PM |
All i know of at this time are the battery tie down and the oil filler cap
perhaps subaru will wait to see how these items "do" before creating more...?

I mentioned that to some people I was talking with. They look nice, but the other yellow caps look off now. Even a billet dipstick would finish it off nicely.

Thanks for the info.
I believe Subaru could offer SPT/STi toilet paper and they couldn't keep up with demand. Methinks they are over complicating their marketing research. ;)

By the way, for those of you like me who have been accustomed to nothing but plastic oil caps.........
Remember in the movie "Raiders of the Lost Ark" when the bar is on fire? Now picture the black-clad, bespectacled Gestapo agent wrapping his bare hand around the medallion, you know, the one that had been resting in flaming alcohol during the entire scene?
Well, let's just say that I'm glad that the "SPT" on the cap is embossed, and not in raised text.  Self-mutilation, tattoos, and piercings are one thing, but I draw the line at branding.
Treat it like a radiator cap. ;)

subaru is coming out with all the new SPT parts eh?
| InfamousDX | 07-19-2006 10:41 AM |
yea it would be great if they made a whole bunch of gunmetal stuff to replace the gay yellowness.
| BriGuy | 07-19-2006 10:46 AM |
Yeah I bought this a couple weeks ago along with the battery tie down. They both look nice, but need some more matching parts in there.

I thought about getting the oil cap when I ordered the SPT battery tie down, and now looking at it I wished I would have ordered it for sure. Definetly a good lookin piece, keep up the good work Jamie!

I am from Singapore, in the Far East. I just ordered the SPT oil filler cap and batt tie-down. Agree that both are lovely products.
Also agree that the filler cap should come with its own gasket. For me, the original gasket would not fit. I had to pare down some of the rubber with a penknife before it fit into the new filler cap.

Um, old thread bump? :)
Weird that the gasket doesn't fit... my Prodrive one fit fine.
And yes the two are very similar, but it's an oil cap...
