New GT style body kit. part 1

drivin scooburz 05-11-2002 01:05 PM

New GT style body kit.

I'm 17 and I own a 97 legacy. Their are a lot of body kits out they're but none of them are for a pre 2000 legacy. So I have decided to create my own body kit in a graphics program called rhino. This kit can be altered to fit any post 95 legacy and any post 93 Impreza. The pictures are to big to put on this forum so if you want to see what I've go this site: http://www.therices.net/subaru/bodykit/index.html If you like the pictures could you please send me an e-mail telling me what you liked and why to [email protected]? It would really help me out a lot. Thanx for your support.

Lets discuss this from front to back.

First the Grill: A little to hectic. Simplify and you'll get a better design that compliments the car

The Front Bumper: Nice general concept, but too many holes. The openings next to the fogs are too large and should be closed up a bit. Something more simplistic like the vents you see on the new age wrx wagon would be nice.

The Hood: Woah Buddy! Do you really need that huge buldge, all those vents, etc? No! Fuction over form man. Lan Evo 6 vents would probably work better.

Fender Flares: The more I look at this it seems like you're trying to make a show car, rather then an actual daily driven stylish car. The fender flares would look tons better if they were smooth transitionial budges akin to the 22B or WRX. Suttelty(sp) is your friend. Oh and that cutting of the rear Fender Flare around the rear door handle has to go. Just because L.J. Garcia and Feels japan can pull that style off, doesn't mean it looks good in other applications.

Side Skirts and Side Vent: Those vents and ferrari style scoop gotta go.

Wing, Rear Bumper and Taillights: Ricer wing is useless, Rear bumper is a lil Zero-Sports-wannabe-ish. Taillights, nice concept, hard to pull off unless you develop a whole new rear bumper for them.

Overall I really like the muscular aggressive appearance, but it reminds me a bit of the Cyborg Motorsports cars, with their non-fuctional design elements and crazy designs. Those cars are simply show cars.... not daily drivers. A little work and a car sporting this kit could drive to a show, enter, win and drive home no problem (if thats what you're going for).

i think that would be a bad ass show car.. couldnt see my self driving that daily tho. good work btw.

Looks like a R33 Skyline GTR to me with Impala/Galant rear lamps..
Imprezer 05-11-2002 04:05 PM

Nice S13. ;)
BrysImpreza 05-11-2002 05:58 PM

Looks a bit too crazy for me, might need a "TOO WIKKEDD" Decal on the side... just kidding

Tails look like a Gen 3 RX-7

My toughts

I like the front bumper but the rest is toooo ricy for me.

2nd look:
FRONT BUMPER: I think the fog holes should be a little bigger and higher. The vents on the side could be a little smaller too.

REAR BUMPER: It's cool.

Not much on the headlights, but the rest is sweet! I love the arch-wing. kinda neat. :)
wolf8314 05-12-2002 01:24 AM

Hmmmm interesting looks to me like a BMW m series(headlights), Skyline(front grill), RX-7(tail lights) Mustang(hood) got drunk as hell had an orgy and well this is what happened....i like it....looks like something in on of my nightmares

Pretty good graphics work there bud! it's a bit over the top for my taste... but I bet the Japanese tuner kids will love it!:)
Lightning Jack 05-13-2002 08:20 PM

Amazing work i love it.. great designed but i do think it look similar to Skyline GTR

the only thing i don't really dig is rear wing
I would go with GT style rear wing

over all it look great:alien:

   i like it...must have taken a lot of imagination to dream up that...but i have to agree wit sherifx about the hood being too extreme...all that vent junk isnt necessary...but i must say i like your front grill and light assembly...but im not too sure with all those colors for bulbs in those headlights...front bumper is hot...i like how it sorta blends with the fender flasres in the front...but i also agree with sherifx about how the fender flares need to be more subtle...i like the wing in the back...it compliments your gen 3 RX-7 scheme in the rear...but it does look similar to the R33 Skyline GT-R...i agree wit everyone else that its more of a show car then an everyday vechicle...but its a nice as hell show car...

You're pretty good with Rhino. I use that program myself!!! Excellent job, but the kit is overboard for the Daily Grind. Good for a Japanese car show!
neurotic 05-14-2002 12:52 PM

I gotta say I like it :)

I agree with whats been said though, it may be a little too "extreme" for my taste especially as a daily driver however if I saw that at a car show I would be doing a double take

Things that make you go Hmmmm

You know, I don't think I would buy it/ put on my vehicle. BUT, and this is a BIG but, if I saw that on the street or even in a show... I'd have to change my pants every time I would see it. Awesome job with rhino too.

we got a real bumper!

We finally got hold of an ass load of bumpers for Subaru, Acura, dodge, Honda, and Mitsubishi. There are about 15 bumpers, side skirts sitting in my garage. We have taken measurements of the Subaru's (97 legacy, 98 legacy, 99 Impreza, 2002 2.5 RS, 2002 legacy, and the 2002 forester) I should have the final, to scale, body kits ready in about two weeks but in the mean time we already have two universal spoilers done and ready to go. E-mail me at [email protected] for some pictures. If you want to see pictures of our latest project (speaker boxes) we are currently selling contracts for a custom Subaru box built to your car, speakers and any other system enhancing parts for 100 bucks on eBay. Thank you

I might sound like an A$$ to say this, but it really bugs that teenagers constantly brags about how they have a nice car at a that age..........what's the relation of that kit and being 17? hum.........I am as luck as they are, but I don't feel that there's a point of showing it off on every thread.:monkey:
Cofusion 06-27-2002 11:38 AM

Wow that blue legacy is so sweet that color would be great to have in that car...
drivin scooburz 06-27-2002 12:45 PM

hahaha

I wish I had that car too. This thread is not about that car which doesn't belong to me. That was courtesy of sheriff. This thread was about a body kit that I have been developing with the help of the members of I-club. Some day maybe, right now I'm looking for a 2.5 RS so there is no need to apply that snotty teen to my head. Thanx for the compliment.

I love your works
hope u will design one for WRX and not cost to much cuz those kits u comes up with are widebody and ya know...darn expensive to get your car to look like that.
Bobalouy 06-27-2002 11:45 PM

yeah Im with Imprezer, looks like an s13.

that blue one by sherifx is awsome.

legacy headlights?

did someone say those headlights in the picture posted by sherifx were legacy headlights?
I was just wondering because I think they're hot... the whole car is

And in reguards to the custom body kit....
If you can get that front grill to flow a little more, you'd be good to go. Other then that, I don't think the kit looks that bad and I'd be highly impressed if you can make it work.
Would I put it on my car?
....... I'll have to see what it looks like in real life first
Good Luck

the lights

The lights on that legacy are made for it. They were designed and sold by a company named cibie. You can find them at www.cibie.com. Yes those light are really sweet, hopefully after I finalize these body kits I can sell them on my web site along with these lights, they are pricey, but I hop to buy a pair and make my own headlights for Imprezas as well.
