painted wrx sideskirts on an sti: anyone got pics?
i am wondering how this would look. i'm not sure i like the sti skirts and i was thinking of just going to stock, dealer painted wrx side skirts. the seem to hang a bit lower and they aren't so swooshy.

anyone done this yet? any pics? :)
Quack 05-17-2004 10:45 PM

umm, if you look at any WRX with painted skirts it'll look like an STi minus the rear wing, foglight covers and side plitters.
cheebus 05-17-2004 10:55 PM

actually they arent the same
way to go though:rolleyes:

so basically if i change EVERYTHING on the exterior of the car then they would be the same? thanks for the tip... i've owned both models but i will say, you have an amazing grasp of the obvious.

lets try this AGAIN... does anyone have pics of an STI with WRX sideskirts?

looks good. anymore pics?

do you find that they do actually hang a bit lower than the stock sti skirts (or is it my imagination)? i hate the fact that on the sti skirts, you can see the jack points underneath!

This is the only other picture I have right now;

Yes they do hang a bit lower than the STi side skirts, covering up the pinch weld underneath. That was one of my gripes about the STi skirts too.

good to have met you as well! you can find those front aero mud guards from japanparts.com but it's a lil pricey though after shipping and all. It's prepainted though.

If you want a cheaper set that's not prepainted but in a flat
black finish, I ended up buying a set of WRX Splash Guards available only in Canada. You can get a set from Specialty Motor Cars. They are the Subaru Dealer in Vancouver B.C. Their service is excellent!

Here is the E-Mail I received from them.

I currently have these splash guards in stock. I have been selling a lot into the U.S.(approx.40 sets for sedans and wagons) The price is $200.00 cdn, shipping included.(about $130.00
U.S.) They are sent via mail and the shipping time has been 6-10 days. If you are interested, please forward your full address with zip and credit card info. via email, fax or phone and I will ship them out today. Thanks - Lee

I think if I had an STi, I would swap to a WRX front bumper, as well as WRX skirts. The wing would stay. :)

Sorry to be off topic, but I'm just wondering if japanparts.com is a reputable shop or not...

Their prices are quite cheap and they carry a lot of products many shops don't carry.

Hope to hear from japanparts.com customers' feedback soon.. thanks.

Lame, Sti bumper and sideskirts are so much better than the WRX counterparts! ;)

Not sure if this is what you're looking for, but I found these:

Better late than never! :D
IMHO, the USDM STi front splitters don't match well with the wrx sideskirts or even the STi sideskirts (which are too short).
To get the best combo, you need to get the 04 JDM front lip, which I think was created with the WRX sideskirts in mind, and then the wrx sideskirts.
Rear valences (rear skirts) match too, especially with the wrx side strakes.

What rear skirt is that? Is it the JDM rear or the WRX 3 piece rear? Anyone know if they are the same because the look exactly the same besides the wrx rear has the middle piece.
I was thinking about keeping my 02 WRX rear 3 piece kit to put on the STi if it fits.
Anonymouse20910 09-27-2004 08:17 AM

It's the JDM rear unfortunately. I would have preferred to have the full 3 piece but it won't fit on 04+'s.
