So u got a STI emblem 4 giving to charity...now where to put it???

Ok, for the gracious people out there that donated $5.00 + to Revolutions Motorsports so that he could give it to charity I have a question that arouse in the original thread. We got our STi emblems..now where to put it? Right under the RS badge see too close to the edge of the trunks..looks squised. I was really thinking about the fender...around where the Titanium fender emblem on a 22b is. But I actually think it would look nicer above that little line on the door...i dont know, where should we put the emblem???

I was thinking about that , But then i would feel like a kid that had a Type-R sticker on his Civic!

i only got one and i would want two if i were going to put it under the side markers. i might just stick it on a window some where, any other ideas, i konw a lot of people got them!

Type-R is a little different because it's solely a model line and not really a parts bin.

STi offers parts and a model line.

Therefore, I believe STi decals look good. And assuming you've got some STi parts, fairgame.

Am I wrong?
Snowphun 12-16-2001 12:41 PM

IMO, leave it off the car, it's really no different than the vtec/type r/turbo/M badge engineering that others do. It's fake; I'd feel stupid when someone asked me about it and I'd have to explain why it's not an sti. A guy at work covered his Cobra with Saleen stickers, doesn't hear the end of it.
Longitude 12-16-2001 05:46 PM

It'd say "STi" as in Tuned by STi (parts), NOT "the WRX STi" car. AOK in my book.

Non-STi Version 4-5-6 Impreza w/ a few STi goodies. :)
Elite421 12-17-2001 11:43 PM

Well i ended up putting my on .....
WagonRX 12-18-2001 12:19 AM

I was thinking about removing the "WRX" and placing it there. But I think most people won't know what STI means. I was also thinking about putton on my front grill like an STI grill.
andywrx 12-18-2001 09:30 AM

not a bad spot, elite. too bad i can't do that on my wrx, 'cuz
the window won't roll down :p

i was also thinking about putting it on my grill. but i've got to
wait until i either replace the oem one, or cut it out and add
some mesh of some sort...still debating over here.

ok time for "the old timer post"

put it on your monitor, it has no place on your car as its not an STI
ezatnova 12-18-2001 12:30 PM

Jaxx,
It was stated earlier that people, like myself, wouldn't mind putting the STi emblem on since STi is not necessarily a type/model of car (such as Cobra, Z-28, Type-R). Why shouldn't I be happy with putting an STi emblem on my WRX that has just an STi shifter? Another example are those who buy the STi foglight covers. Should they scrape off the emblems that come on those? No. STi is a manufacturer or performance parts. There's nothing wrong with supporting the premier parts manufacturer for our cars.
I have asked many a Civic and Accord owner, "Oh, wow, how much was it to import that Type-R model since they don't make them in the USA?" so in case someone tries this sarcasm on me, I'm prepared with my explanation that STi is a parts company, not a model.
Anyway, back to the original post...where to put these emblems??...I still don't know. I guess I'm leaning for somewhere on the trunk. It can always come off I suppose (I hope!).

[/B][/QUOTE] You've obviously convinced yourself that this is OK. Jaxx disagreed, as do I. The difference between what you're doing and the kid with Type-R badges is nil, even by your logic. Isn't there a aftermarket company that called Type-R?

Obviously do whatever makes you feel good. Just don't be surprised when some people point and laugh at you.
ezatnova 12-18-2001 02:01 PM

I didn't know there was an aftermarket company called type-R, and even if there is, that's not what people are "duplicating" since most I see are the exact emblem or replica of the real "Type-R" model.
There is a clear and obvious difference between an emblem on a car which represents a completely different model, and an emblem representing a well-respected parts manufacturer. This situation is comparrible to a Honda having a Mugen emblem on it. This would be fine (I'd hope the driver had at least ONE Mugen part though! :) )
If I have to take the time to educate ingnorant people, if they "point and laugh," as to what STi is and what I own of theirs on my car, then so be it.
peepshow 12-18-2001 02:28 PM

IMO, putting an STi badge on your car is no different than putting an Eibach, OZ, LEDA, SYMS, Cusco, etc. sticker on your car. A-OK in my book as long as you have some STi parts. There is no aftermarket company that I know called "Type-R". I'm pretty sure those people would get sued by Honda in short order. Bottom line, do what you want and let people think what they will.

I'm totally cool with putting an STi badge on my car. I have the same one everyone else seems to and I replaced my 2.5GT badge with the STi emblem. FYI the 2.5GT badge had corroded and looked like crap. My car is a Legacy. I still don't feel bad about it. I've got STi muffler, pedals, and strut tower bar. Those things totally justify having an STi emblem on the car. There is no parallel here with fake type-R stickers, type-R is a trim level and performace line of cars, not a performance line of parts. If someone put an STi Type RA sticker on their car, then that would be the same as a type-R sticker.

dRu888 12-18-2001 05:55 PM

yes, I would have to agree with monovich and a majority of you people that responded. Sticking an STI badge on our car isn't comparable to some scrub sticking a Type-R badge on his Civic LE.

Putting a STI badge or sticker is the same thing as a guy with a honda putting a Mugen badge, or a toyota guy sticking a TRD badge, etc. etc. blah blah blah. So I don't see any problem with sticking the sti badge on my car. Look at Sexy GC8's car...i think thats pretty clean...

Ok, anyways, bACK ON SUBJECT... i was thinking on the fenders, but I know some punk kid would probably jack them so its on the right side of my dash visible through the windshield rite now...and it actually looks pretty well and compliments my pink I badge =).. Thanks 4 all the input eVErybody :D :D
WagonRX 12-21-2001 01:27 AM

Here's where the UK STI has em. This is where I'm going to put it.
ezatnova 12-21-2001 12:02 PM

I think that's where it looks best, where the STi car's is, on the lower right of the trunk. But, I think I've decided to wait to put it on until I have my wheels and unichip. Then I can back up the emblem with looks and power if anyone has a problem with it :)
monovich 12-21-2001 02:18 PM

Yes, definitly, it's all about backing up the emblem.

:)
Evil-Mastermind 12-21-2001 05:10 PM

mmm, UK style looks good.
cantex 12-21-2001 11:18 PM

if i had one

i would put it right beside the "powered by Subaru" decal just below my altezzas.
CBoldman 12-22-2001 01:51 AM

Well, Subaru offers a Sti sticker packages with the WRX so that makes it ok in my book.
wolf8314 12-22-2001 05:12 AM
