STI Seats Conversion
1 Attachment(s)
If I purchased the seats seen below from vivid racing would it be possible to have someone redo them with the same material and look of the sti seats? They look like the same seats just different fabric. Someone let me know if im wrong.

I have sat in these seats before. I am 6'1 and I barely fit into them with comfort. Might be an issue.

No need to use the disclaimer about taking the photo from Vivid's site... I don't think a single photo on there he took himself ;). That particular photo belongs to Alternative Vehicles (I think :)). At any rate, the material the STi seats are made of (the center anyway) is Alcantara, also known as Ultrasuede, and costs about $75/yard (yikes!). It will cost in the neighborhood of $200 for material alone. The outer fabric is an odd mix of two fabrics- it's black on top and blue underneath, and the red friction areas are of a similar fabric, just red over red. I couldn't begin to think where you could get those fabrics, but the black on there now is likely close enough :). I am about 6'2" or 6'3", and the STi seats are quite comfortable for me- I sat in a pair and new I had to get them :).

I know can get them re-covered but I also think there is a place that sells the cover for the back seat to match.

I'd say cool seats, but I hope the bottom cushion molds when you sit on it, or else it looks quite uncomfortable:lol: .

Bride seats are awesome... not only comfy, but very light too!

-Bride seats are closer to $950 a seat without brackets. They can be had from the untrustworthy www.takakaira.com
-The UK spec seats are about 1" higher than stock.
-North Ursalia- the center section of the seats are not ultrasuede (alcantara) It is a hard webbing. I have them in my car. If they were Alcantara they wuld be alot more! The Blue STi and Red Sti seats have Alcantara, but not these.
-P.S. I am 6'1" adn these seats are the most comfortabel thing that I have ever sat in! They are well worth the money! I got my UK spec seats form www.alternativevehicles.com

It would be FAR less trouble to get STi seats than to buy UK spec seats and get them recovered to look like STi seats.
STi seats do not raise the seating level 1". They are approximately the same height as GC8 RS seats. If you put the STi V6 seats into your WRX (GD8) they will lower the seating position about 1" as the WRX seat brackets are raised 1" over GC8 brackets.
As far as fitting, you really should sit in the seats you intend to buy before you buy them. For example, the STi seats are very comfortable, and fit the taller people, but there's a LOT of lumbar support, which some people don't like. Every seat, and every person, is different.

Julian- I was saying that the UK spec seats are about an inch higher than my stock RS seats because the UK spec seats are made for a WRX GDA and as you said the brackets are taller than the stock GC8 ones!
Brian- Cool we have the same seats!

I cannot afford to pay 4 thousand dollars for them. Nor are they worth 4 grand. If anyone knows where to get them for less please post it.

$4000? Who said anything about $4G? What are you looking for now?
| thermite | 01-23-2002 11:21 AM |
I am looking for STI seats, the blue ones. The read nice ones from the JDM STI. Is there some place thats cheaper than vividracing?
| Hondakilla | 01-23-2002 07:13 PM |
does any1 know if it is possible to get the STi V6 rear seat like the front ones cuz i can only find the front ones:confused:
| North Ursalia | 01-23-2002 08:00 PM |
You can buy it... there have been a few for sale in the private classifieds. Mike Shields could (maybe still can?) get them, or you could recover the rear seat fabric (that's probably the route I'm taking).

yes adamrs is correct, bride seats run for about 950 a seat, for the "Recaro SRD" competitor, being that is the cheapest seat available. Without brackets and sliders, and foreign shipping rates, you can get them for about 1300 a seat in the states, I know some people that supply them, but as for being worth it, I'd rather get recaro SRD's and have them wrapped in perforated leather or something like that. The picture atomic apples supplied is a defect i think, the seat pan is usually straight, and if you've ever sat in a bride seat, you would know that they are pretty damn comfortable. As for you tall guys, I'm not sure how you'd feel in them, I'm pretty small.
As for your question about the UK seats being re wrapped, I have a friend who owns a shop that can do those seats as well as panels for you. Another guy is interested in doing the same thing. Unless you are the guy that I've been talking to. Give me an IM @ "Prodrivenny" or "Richiro Suzuki"
