STi Shifter Trim part 1

theicewall 03-23-2006 01:33 PM

STi Shifter Trim
Can anyone tell me the dimensions of the STi shifter trim bolts? I ordered a kit from an Ebay vendor that has a very nice replica but it uses screws and not allen bolts. I also found an internet vendor that sells allen bolts in all sizes but I am not in the US for the next 3 weeks and I wanted to order the bolts before hand so that I can just do the install. Does anyone know the length of the bolt, the diameter of the head of the allen bolt, etc? Thanx.

The whole thing just pops on and off. The "bolts" just look nice.

The guy is selling another one so look at other products from seller.

The bolts are fake on an STi? I thought that they atleast went through something.
ZLODEY 03-23-2006 03:14 PM

Have you seen you could buy now the same shifter trim as S20x has? www.japanparts.com
Uncle Ben 03-23-2006 03:17 PM

The bolts are not fake... they go through the trim into the plastic console and secured underneath with nuts.

anyone know where i can find an STI shifter trim for an 05? i've been looking forever, and i only see it for the 02-04.
InfamousDX 03-23-2006 05:09 PM

i got an 04 sti shifter trim WITH console piece and boot so all you have to do is pop your entire piece out and put this in. only $13 more than what OP paid.

Umm, no.

i've had mine off enough times to know that it just pulls off. Maybe some of the aftermarket ones have really, really long bolts that go all the way down to some metal...

well anyway, I purchased one already and its pretty nice, I just need to get some dimensions of the STi bolts, even if they dont go through to anything. What is the diameter of the head? I assume that 1/4" length should be long enough to go through. Is there a problem with too long? Do I need 1/8" instead?

Right, I dont have the authentic one! I am trying to make the nonauthentic one look more authentic! If you have a freaking authentic one then why dont you answer my question instead of posting a totally useless response!

Check with any of the online Subaru dealers on here. Subie Gal (Jamie) www.subarugenuineparts.com can hook you up I'm sure :)
Ricewagon 03-24-2006 09:23 AM

Oops, sorry dude. Why don't you just take the trim to a home depot to find a allen bolt head that fits. The length is about 1 1/2" to 2" from what I remember.
SubaruGenuineParts 03-24-2006 09:26 AM

Hi there...

we have had the 05 STi shifter trim on our site for some time.

photo is just for reference, the shape does differ in 2005.

Also, our kits include ALL oem hardware.

If anyone needs "just" the hardware we can do that too

Read the first post, for the reason I started this thread. I dont want ugly screws, I want nice ones that must be ordered online. I cant take the piece to home depot because I am not in the US for the next 3 weeks and will only be home for one week. I want to do the project while I am home. Can someone just answer the question instead of giving me new suggestions on what I should do. Please read an entire thread before replying.

PM Jamie (www.subarugenuineparts.com) - Ask her to order the correct factory bolts for you and ship them to your home. They will be waiting for you when you get back.

I have ordered tons of factory hardware from Jamie - it's the easiest way to get the proper fastener for the job.

i would take that s203/4 trim anyday over usdm trim
theicewall 03-24-2006 09:16 PM

I picked them up from her too. The S204 trim looks nice but it is bulky and it also looks to be for the 05-06 not the 04. I am happy with my purchase and how can you go wrong with her mounting harware... great price!
Needles 03-26-2006 08:09 PM

Jamie,

Do you have the trim for a 02/03 WRX?
theicewall 03-26-2006 08:16 PM

It should be an 04 trim, which appears to fit all 02-04 wrx's so I guess in a way yes. It isn't the trim for an 05-06 wrx.
