Stock headlight mod. good stuff!

i did the painted headlight mod, and absolutly LOVE it! I went by the "koji", i think it is, instructions. they look almost like JDM Sti headlights. and i think that i ALMOST like them better than my morettes!
here's a pic:

I'll second that- did it to my black WRX wagon this summer- looks great and waaaay cheaper than Morettes, which I won't but because they're French, and also much cheaper than EDM/JDM.

Black-X - try finding a pair of mirrored turn signal bulbs. They look great in the modded headlights.
Flexx - PM bailey454. He's done it too.

here's the page i followed.

now with the pvc connector, i cut the top off of the orange dome light cover, and glued it into the end of the pvc pipe. looks real good. forgot where i saw the instructions for that, but it's out there.

here's a pic of someone elses headlight that did the same thing. i painted mine a little different than him, but it shows the pvc part a lot better than my pic.

If you still have amber lense in there, why would you spend the $ for mirrored turn signals? They're almost $15 a pair and you won'rt see them behind an amber lense. The mirrored signals are for leaving them open like so:

the pic above looks good, but i REALLY liked the amber bulb cover cut, and placed into the pvc. i did that to mine(can't see it that well in the pic). i think it adds a WHOLE lot to the mod.

Here's my version of the "painted headlight mod:"

In person I think it looks really good. But, after looking at the above pictures, I kind of wish I did the entire thing. Oh well, it's pretty easy to do.
By the way, Black-X, I think I met you at Horsepower house (I can't remember your name, though  ). What kind of numbers did you end up laying down? Oh yeah, your lights look real good.

Your Koji mod looks hot! But I think most of the Morette bashers haven't seen em painted right...

Any excuse to post a pic of my own car (I'm not biased or anything):

-better light output than stock by a LOT (projectors vs reflectors)
-the $ you save by not buying STi lights can go towards HID's

Once again, anything looks better than morrettes. If i had a gda, you couldnt pay me enough to put them my car. If morrette wanted to sponsor me, I would tell them to go to hell.

02R6,
we did meet at horsepower house. i only laid down 199hp. the guy left a bunch of knock in a few places, and left it like that. i was soooo dissapointed. :furious: i came home, and pulled 2 degrees timing accross the board, and the knock is gone. didn't feel like i lost any power either!
i did the headlight mod a couple days after the dyno tune. too bad you didn't get to see it. oh well. maybe we can meet up again with the other guys and go to the track in the spring or something.
BTW, i am still in envy of your sunroof!!!

I win John! :) Gotta love the real deal EDMs.
Morettes have their place, they definately make the car more bad ass and agressive, but the lines don't line up right. I would have gottem them, but I got a sweet deal on my pair (once in a lifetime).
John, it was nice to see your car in person. Bling brothers unite!

That's weird, the guy (JR, I think), left knock on your map. He didn't leave any knock on the map he made for me. Although, the other day, I gave it a good romp and did get a little knock, so I turned the boost down from where he had (on the Profec) and it went away. Oh well.
I would definitely be down for going to the track in the spring. I've never had my car to the strip and everybody says that's the only way to tell how much power you are making.
Glad to hear you like the sunroof. At meets and stuff, people always love it. I can't get enough of it either, I look for any excuse to use it. If you have the chance, I highly recommend getting one put in.
