I'm a big fan of the original headlamps, but do what you want. Some people like to accessorize and some like a factory look. I prefer factory. Very nice car though!

I usually hate Morette, but somehow your ride looks great! I don't know why.
By the way, That is NOT a STI front lip spoiler.

I have to agree with you, they don't look the same and I checked out www.scoobymania.co.uk and the one they have is exactly like the one on the white car.

Morette
Keep the Morette but change the low beam to the diamond cut 5 3/4 round. Get the H5001 replacement which uses H4 bulb so you don't need to change to H1 (H5006).
The Cibie housing make the the light blurry and it spreads the light. The diamond cut housing has a concentrated beam and gives you a definition to the beam pattern.
I'll post mine with the diamond cut and cibie soon.

Re: Morette
I like the look of the stock headlight, but I also like the Morette because it is brighter than stock. If you Morette, get the HID too, then you will have no reason to go back to stock:D

See the difference? Wide and scattered vs concentrated beam.
I've suffered enough, I'm changing my driver side to diamond cut today!

I have the original ones so they should be ok :)
I still haven't made up my mind yet although most of you seem to like the morettes better.
There is an awesome difference between the Diamond Cut and the Regular Morettes. Where can I find the Diamond Cut ones??
Cheers,
Steven

I would go back to stock... It just looks more mean IMO

I think they both look great. Your friends car looks nice. If your going to go with the stock ones that would be cool too. But then again, its always more fun to be different.

Look for any website that sells 5 3/4" round housing with H4 bulb replacement. Just make sure the chrome coating is shiney and not too blurry.
Yes, I have the McCulloch HID. How do you know?

Daffy Duck: These Morette lenses that you posted a pic of... what kind of Morette lamp unit were these from? I thought there were only two types of Cibie optics available for them... regular and the complexes. IIRC neither of them looks like that picture.
As for the diamond cut, the light pattern may not necessarily be better than the stock E-Code lamp. IMO, at night, you want to see as much around you as possible and that means spreading the light below the horizontal as best as you can.
No light distribution methodology is perfect but I personally think the E-Code has more pros than cons going for it... nevermind the right hand sweepers. :p

If you don't need the Morrettes (for HID) then I would go back to stock. I don't like the clear corners with Morrettes. I like Morettes, but something has to be done about the parking lights, it just doesn't look right. I like it when people modify their cars, but in a way that looks stock (ie could come from the factory that way). That doesn't.
For what it's worth, it just my opinion.

Neither of those pictures look like the light an E-code should make, thought he first picture of just the lens was the same light as I've got in my set. Looking at the night shots, the stock Cibie should be lighting up that sign off to the right due to the e-code beam pattern. Two reasons why it does not could be that the lens is either misaimed or for a right hand drive car. Notice I say could; I'd need to check a bit more and compare the lens a bit more closely to my own to see if the upward slant is on the correct side.
For the difference between reflector and complex reflector, there's no difference other than the style; in both cases you're still reflecting light and one can be made to function just as well as the other. Complex reflectors came into style in the early 90s and everyone's been using them, plus you can use plastic which is cheaper for volume production. Though the complex lenses pictures might have a better pattern; I don't see much improvement in distance, just a bigger flare of light up close at the cost of a greater sperad. In non lighted areas with the apparent distance being equal I'd choose the dimmer broader pattern, and even more so if there's any humidity because all that light up front would cause a lot of glare. With the stock lenses properly aimed you can see the reflection of deer eyes ten feet to the side of the road until you're right up to them.
I notice e-code lights don't light up things as much as they highlight features like reflectors, debris, and animals (particularly their eyes). Stock Subaru lights already do this very well, but the Morettes are a bit better, and you get some nice integrated driving lights (the inner lenses are from the Tango series) to boot.
