Wagon in need of skirts, painted to match

factory silver. Here is a pic of a white wagon with what I want (but obviously in silver :P )

Where to buy? Are they factory ones that fit on nicely, or are a cheap aftermarket knock off type with questionable fitment?
I figure this is better than having my rough stock skirts painted.

Those look like the stock skirts.
My brother owns a body shop in Reisterstown that can paint the stockers to match. We did mine and they look great. All he needs is the skirts and the paint code.
Give him a call, tell him Adam sent you. :D

are they factory skirts, or replicas painted? Look good in person, no junk allowed on my ride :) Not saying you sell junk, but some skirts fit poorly.

SubieGal, Is there any difference between those and the factory unpainted skirts on my 2k3 wrx?? (besides the fact that those are painted obviously) ;)

are they smooth skirts that are then painted, or rough ones like our stock ones that are then painted?
I want the smooth poly erothane (sp?) ones. Durable in the long run.

It is my understanding that the skirts we have stock are the exact same thing that is posted above and the reason those are "smooth" is only because they have been prepped and painted... If I am wrong please correct me, I had planned on getting my stock skirts painted but I would also like "smooth" Skirts

I've heard of people simply doing the side skirts themselves. Word is you can get a body shop to mix you up a spray can or two of the right color (some may just throw you some extra if you're lucky enough for them to be working on one of that color). With some diligent cleaning, priming, sanding and painting -- voila! I was going to do it myself, but when I was kicking the snow off my shoe on my stock skirts, I was thinking, 'I don't think a DIY paint job would stand up to this.' Anyone do it themselves and have it holding up well to something like this?

I bought the OEM side skirts (in white) for my wagon. Same skirts (and thus same part #) as sedan. No big deal, but OEM sides use a silver gasket instead of white, btw. They fit great, go on quickly and durable. Perfect match.
That said, I have the old side skirts (black) I took off that I'd like to get rid of. Just pay shipping if you're interested (thought I'd take advantage of this thread rather than the FS threads).
I can wholeheartedly recommend the OEM skirts, but if you have to paint, a lot of dudes have had good luck with that method as well. The search shows a TON of threads of what paints, additives and primers to use.
Good luck.

Yup, exactly the same. Only difference is paint color and gasket color. Sedan and Wagon.

The skirts came off a wagon, but will fit a sedan.
I'll sell them for the cost of shipping.

Irvine Subaru has them cheaper than anywhere...$208 for the OEM painted ones. I just got mine put on that I got from them last week and they look great.

How much did they charge to paint them?

The painted sideskirts that come from Subaru are polyurethane. The black stock side skirts that come on the WRX stock are made of ABS plastic I believe.
| Frederf | 12-19-2002 04:50 PM |
So you get blue gaskets if you buy blue sideskirts?
