Westward Ho! Going to Oregon and Rim!
Made the decision this weekend and Dave Shindle and I will be going to Oregon for the event 4/19 and then Russell Strate will join me for Rim near L.A. 5/4.
I will be towing with a Legacy wagon so if you live near I-80 keep a lookout for me next week, I'll be the one on the side of the road with the hood up.
"its not the mileage, its the distance"
More info as it happens.
rz
ps: need some help with crew at Rim.

Jamie is driving. At least she is on the entry list. I have $50 on her to beat Kristen Tabor.

I like kristen a lot, had the pleasure of meeting her a few times, very lovely lady, but i think Jamie is in a diferent class behind the wheel. I am looking for Jamie to continue her learning and run competively with her class leaders, getting as many miles under her belt as possible.
I think it's fantastic Jamie is running in the Pro-Rally in just her second event as a stage rally driver, it's going to be invaluable learning from lots of angles. Should be very good from an exposure point of view too, which is important for anyone wanting to make an impact and build support.
Best of luck Randy, I hope you get there!! Do you have AAA on standby??:D

Jamie is on the entry list for only the ClubRallies, not the ProRally.
Randy, there is always putting the Legacy on the trailer and towing with the Rally Impreza. True, it doesn't have a radio but the engine sound is music to my ears. Just be sure to swap tires first.

Cool. The online entry list needs a little attention. I know a couple cars that are listed as the wrong class. Go Subie Gal.

AAA
Not only on standby, I bought the "plus" service which tows 100 miles, includes the trailer and pays $350 of expenses.
I figure 3 or 4 "breakdowns" and I can get the trip funded.
***AAAplus also will give you gas if you run out***
with prices going up, a well placed runout somewhere in the middle of nowhere would get me 20 gallons!

Glad to hear you've decided to make the trek, Randy! Since there are only 12 days between the Trail and the Rim, do you have a place to leave your car out on the West Coast? Might save you some trailering hardships... Then again if you need to work on things, it's a time hardship (nothing's ever easy, is it?).
I'm looking forward to seeing you (and everyone else, for that matter :) ) out there. Mmm... Rally beer...

trailer park
I've imposed on a friend in Camas, WA to crew and supply a flop-house/shop/parking lot and taxi service.
Hope to see you there.
With my big rig... rz

Legacy
It'd take a small Oil Producing Country to supply the fuel needed for my truck to tow the rallycar across country. 400+ horsepower and 35 inch tires eats gas like crazy and is obnoxiously loud.
And the Legacy already is a legacy in itself. The time we stuffed and buried it while surveying road conditions at SnoDrift, the time the trailer hitch broke so Randy drove the Legacy and I drove the rallycar to SwiftRapids rally (which we won) and on the return trip cooked the rallytires while racing both cars through Toronto, and countless more and soon to be numerous other stories to this Legacy.
And its only on the second 200,000 miles.

Randy's had no mechanical DNFs yet.
I rolled the same Impreza 3 times last year and each time was able to drive it back to service. They take a lickin but keep on ticking.

Rim 2002
I'll be at Rim with my camera snapping away - any drivers who want images of them stuffing it over a cliff coming through Spunky canyon lemme know where you plan to have your off in advance ;-)
I got some new equipment this year and a lot more photographic knowledge so hopefully the pics will be even more spectacular ;-)
Please try and put on as good a show as Pat did last year for me ;-)

See y'all there - feel free to say Hi to me - I'm the tall Irish bloke with the camera pointed at anything that looks fast.....
