What are the empty slots for??

In an 04 STi, there are 2 empty slots by the IC spray button and the headlight aiming knob...i believe that one slot is for the JDM fog button, but whats the other slot for??

i'm not sure, but i've seen a air/fuel ratio digital bar meter installed there, i've seen tons on vw, but only once on a suby. this is teh vw one:

ahh.. I forgot they got rid of the lame on dash button. :) one of those blanks WAS cruise control on a pre 04 Impreza. I have no clue what they're putting there now.

The STi has the IC spray. As already said, I think one was for the cruise control. I'm not sure, but I think the other one is for the electric folding mirrors that are available in Japan.

I think NTP WRX has your remaining blank. I looked at pics of JDM WRX's and STi's and couldn't find anything in the blanks. The folding mirrors are options so that easily could be the remaining one...
and skyhawk.. oops I guess pre-05 WRX/STi's had the cruise on the dash.

I preferred the 03 cruise control setup. I hit my knee on the longer lever the sti has all the time. Never had a problem on my 03.

I assumed they just left the cruise control blank in there; makes more sense than developing another dash part just for the sake of filling in one hole. That dash piece is probably the same for all Imprezas 02-05.
So you have fogs+cruise, even though the cruise isn't located there anymore.

i'm pretty sure they include extra button holes on most passenger cars.
auxillary lighting, security systems, and countless other aftermarket products can utilize them.

I have never hit the lever with my knee yet. As a matter of fact, my knee isn't even close to it when I drive. I love the setup. I love the fact that I can pull the lever towards me to turn it off instead of hitting the button on the dash or tapping the brakes which lights up the brake lights. I have never driven a car with this setup and I love it. :devil:

My 04' WRX has from left to right ..... Fogs - Cruise - Defrost .... Maybe it's the mirror defrost blank spot ....

I think the canadian model has a rear wiper. Dunno where the control is for this.

I have an '03 and I don't have to hit the button or the brakes to turn off my cruise control. You can do it with the lever.
