What do you think of this?!?

These seem to be the only light pods available to us for our project car and I just wanted to get an oppinion.

If anyone knows of a reasonably priced 2up/2down system like on the WRC car let me know.

HoLy CoW! hahaha i think that will blind everyone within one mile! hahaha Everyone will get out of your way when they see that on your car [img]http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/smile.gif[/img]
Red-Impreza 04-06-2001 09:59 PM

Very subtle.

(Hey, if you're rally racing who really cares.)

After a million hours searching for 2up 2down style without being totally ripped off for a simple fiberglass piece I found the following:

rallylight.com he told me he will be getting them soon and will only sell with the custom modified Hella 4000s for aprox 700.00 which is well worth it considering if you do the math the pod would be aprox 250-300 dollars and the lights and custom brackets would take up the rest.

For a cheaper route that place that specializes in mazda 323s designed a 4 across unit for an impreza which runs only 175.00 but not as pretty as the 2up 2down style in my opinion..

AP racing in Japan is a total rip off like 800 bucks for just a pod

demontweeks motorsport catalog also sells them at a reasonable price if you don;t mind importing and all that fun stuff.
MichiganRS 04-06-2001 10:23 PM

Here is the other place I was speaking of:

PIAA 80s fit. Also Hella 1000s fit nice. Anyting that is 7" at
the lens fits
well.

8" lights are very tight and hang over some.

Thanks for the info. This one has actually grown on me a little.

Unfortunately DT does not have the 2up/2down style for the Impreza (which are Prodrive by the way) one only ones like these.

Holy cow....invasion of the mutated Imprezas! that blue one looks freaky, people will definitely get out of the way when they see that coming, maybe even I. [img]http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/lol.gif[/img]
grimlock 04-07-2001 06:38 AM

Dante, an Impreza running at Cherokee Trails had that exact light pod. It looked really good in person. Plus, the way the lights blend with the hood vents is really nice.

If you are using the top mount intercooler, you would have to use the separate pods on either side of the hood. Those are Prodrive style that is shown on the 1st pic. Prodrive WRC uses the front mount, so they use the one big pod in the center. There is a cheaper fiberglass that is half the length of the above that we used and is also in the Demon Tweeks catalog. The bumper pods is also good too.

[email protected]

if you email him he will let you know they have 2up 2down but not listed in catalog.

I wanna go with the 2up 2 down I think I will be the only nut out there plus being they are so darn hard to find
Primm Motorsports 04-08-2001 08:10 AM

Unfortunately the 2up/2down pod DT has access to is special order, approx £650=$937.85 and it does not come with lights or mounting rings.

Holy cr*p! Those are huge. Kinda neat though. How do you see around those? for potholes and such?

MichiganRS 04-08-2001 10:54 PM

Dante-
What lamps are you running on those?
4000s?

Sounds like rallylights is the best offer out there plus they have the proper brackets, etc plus going by the emails he has the experience of what works and what doesn't.
Buck-O 04-08-2001 11:07 PM

Didnt Subaru used to run those on ehte first year WRX, when it was still Groupe-A, IIRC?

Personally i like them better then teh o00o style light racks. Much more charector, and those will certaintly catch your attention faster. [img]http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/smile.gif[/img]

But for crazy Subaru lights...nothing beats this. [img]http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/eek.gif[/img]

By 2 up 2 down do you mean something like this?
<IMG SRC="http://www.subiegal.com/IMAGES/New%20RS/phase%202%20front.jpg" border=0>

SubieGal is talking about getting some of these made up for ~$100. Just add lights and go! http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/Forum26/HTML/001630.html

Those SUVs blinded us long enough Its payback time!

2up 2 down style with hella 4000s here we come! .... for rally use only of course heh well maybe if the follow to close and pass I may not be able to resist.
mykrrrr 04-17-2001 03:25 AM

Dante - Like Ver.III said, go with the 00---00 style if you're gonna a TMIC but go with the o00o style if you're gonna do a FMIC...or if you're gonna stay PGT go with what's in yer budget.

Personally, I like the o00o style better but the 00---00 looks cool as well. Since I'm a broke a$$, I'm gonna go with the 00---00 one when I prep mine for rally racing...unless the WRX or EVO VII bug bites before I pay the RS off... [img]http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/biggrin.gif[/img]

Dante.. I honestly don't like the ones from the pic you posted I prefer the looks of those on the SWRT car, but would live with the 4 across style, or Subie Gal's set-up, but all in the the WRC Subaru has the best set-up IMHO. All other's look a little spacey or basic and few provide the the 2 up 2 down as nicely as the SWRT one. AND you still get to have hood vents to help cool off your motor.
AHadjiminas 04-17-2001 07:15 AM

This is what we use on our Impreza. We will have these available in the next month or so. We will also have available the long awaited wide body kit. Keep an eye out for these things and a few more items. We will be posting on our site, as well as this forum.

Subie Gal 04-17-2001 07:31 AM

i think those would be very, very functional... isnt that the intent???

light pod doesnt have to look purdy to perform... whatever's least expensive and works... that's what i would get...

my $.02

AHadjiminas: That's the one we are looking for. Let us know when you have them available. Also give us some info on the Widebody kit.
