What sideskirts do you like better? part 1

TEKNOSYS 06-07-2005 09:45 PM

What sideskirts do you like better?
What do you like better, OEM painted WRX sideskirts or STi sideskirts?
jdm_sti 06-07-2005 10:06 PM

OEM skirts
Bumble Bee 03 06-07-2005 10:12 PM

oem, they are lower than sti's...
rallytim888 06-07-2005 10:24 PM

STi by far. The black oem ruin the look of the car imo.
supermarkus 06-07-2005 10:28 PM

OEM non-painted is not an option, they look like arse. I hated seeing the pinch welds under my car so I got the OEM painted sides. Much better.
subaruwrx420 06-07-2005 10:28 PM

painted oem

I agree I was gonna paint mine.hangs down lower then anythig else on the bottom...I Still like the STi skirts...but the NO SKIRT option was not available and I dig no skirts @ all!
scoobyzip 06-08-2005 12:06 AM

sorry to hijack the thread but....i was told that painting the oem skirts on a rex isnt a good idea cause of the material and texture??
quest 06-08-2005 12:43 AM

I had it done on my old wrx and NEVER had any issues with the paint flaking off. It's all in the prep.
olsaltybastard 06-08-2005 06:43 AM

I guess it depends on what car its on.
Red04WRX 06-08-2005 11:34 AM

I like my sti side skirts :)
TEKNOSYS 06-08-2005 11:35 AM

I have oem painted on my WRX now and I'm lowered with TEIN S-Techs. It's almost too low. I was thinking of trading ith somebody to get STi skirts so the car wouldn't look as low. What do you think?

+1 OEM
I don't like how the STi's are all angular with those ridges.
I wish they came with the Spec-C skirts that are like the OEMs, but less bulbus and flatter.

^^^ em... spec c don't come with skirts...
SUBYDOODIE 06-08-2005 01:12 PM

haha yea seriously.. fujifast.. take off your skirts and it'll look exactly the same.. just fill in the holes
UltimateLurker 06-08-2005 02:12 PM

I definitely prefer the STi skirts, lord knows I paid a fortune for them. The WRX skirts look too big, and make an already fat looking car look even thicker, but also lower at the same time. The STi skirts give it a slightly more svelt look, and I absolutely HATE IT when people don't paint the underside of their STi skirts black (the part that covers the pinch welds), it looks totally unfinished without that part painted, and ruins the look.
UKjon 06-08-2005 02:46 PM

Here's a pic of my old STi with WRX skirts

I think they look better on the darker colour cars, but make the rear bumper(fender?)side profile look a bit odd

...as a comparison,my 05 with std STi skirts

I still have the WRX items, just in two minds whether or not to get them cc'ed and fitted to the new car,but on lighter colour cars I think the STi skirts give a better definition:)

here ya go!
No skirts.

the car has to be slammed for it to look Good...but I'm so "wishy washie" I change my mind every couple weeks.
I was gonna fill my holes (tape covering them in pic) and then I went back to the stock look...now I'm gonna buy a WRX wing and maybe take the Skirts back off! I hate myself.I'm never happy! But its fun to swap parts though.Keeps it feeling "NEW" to me!

Spec C is my Love though!
FujiFast 06-08-2005 08:16 PM

The Fuji's eye sight isn't too good sometimes
I like the naked look...very clean.

Mrfairlady - great looking ride!

Because I put a JDM front lip and rear valences on my car the STI sideskirts looked to short so I put the WRX skirts and I think it matches well for all, technically oem, pieces.
TEKNOSYS 06-08-2005 11:08 PM

^^^ Nice looking ride. I grew up in Monkey Village, lived there the 1st 18 years of my life.
ebeck 06-09-2005 12:27 AM

The painted skirts look really really good with front aero guards.
Anonymouse20910 06-09-2005 12:30 AM
