Where to buy painted sideskirts?

I plan on ordering painted sideskirts for my psm sedan. I've found them online on subaruwrxparts.com for $230. I seem to remember seeing them for a cheaper price in a thread a while back, but can't find the thread.
Any other good sites to get them?

You do realize that you can very well spend half of that (maybe even less, got mine painted for $80.) to get the skirts paint, rite? Other than that $230 for OEM side skirts sound right.

Yea, paint em yourself... easy to take off... sand em down and take them to a shop... cost < $100

230 is a good price........go for it........:disco:

I got mine from http://spimotorsports.com/ and just checked, they were at $220. Not a big difference but hey that's 10 bucks you saved for gas right? :D
One minor cosmetic difference I noticed is that the rubber seal was the same color as the car. If you got the stock ones painted the rubber would still be black. Not a big deal but nice.
Well good luck either way.

I've been considering painting them, but am wondering how well it will hold up. From my past experiences with painting plastic items, the paint never holds up very well. Even if sanded, primered, etc....it doesn't seem to bond to the plastic very well. I know that Subaru paint chips easily, but am assuming the factory painted skirts may hold up a bit better. Another thing is the black rubber molding mentioned above, although that's not a huge deal.
Thanks for the offer M3, but I'll most likely use my own if I decide to have them painted.

I had a body/repair shop paint mine while my car was being fixed a couple months ago and I haven't had a single scratch or chip on the sideskirts. He used some type of special paint adhesive that will keep the paint from chipping off. And I have driven on rock/dirt roads quite a few times with them painted. I wouldn't recommend rallying with them painted though. ;)

Yeah, I definitely wouldn't rally with them...I'm too much of a neat freak for that. How much did the paintwork set you back?

I bought mine from the subaruwrxparts link above and they look great and there were no hassles... There are NO body shops in my area willing to paint them, so it was my only option...
Not quite sure why EVERYONE jumps on someones case because they want to buy them. Yes it's twice as much, but there are no worries and you get the silver strip... some people just want it done perfectly the first time and are willing to pay the little extra for it or can't find a shop to do it for them..

Yeah, I don't understand it either. I bought mine from W&L Subaru (sale is now over) for $180 shipped. And the little silver weatherstrip makes a big difference to those of us that are detail oriented. I also like being able to throw the stockers on during the winter.
Just my $.02

I had some body/paint work done in March. While the car was getting worked on I asked the guy to paint the side skirts silver too. He explained to me that it could be done, but something about the paint not sticking to the plastic. Needless to say, I went for it and they turned out great. The car had a better look in my opinion. However, I just ordered the factory painted side skirts and had the wrapped with that 3M paint by a local guy. They look incredible. I plan on putting them on in the spring when the weather gets warm again. I hope these hold up better, because the factory ones I had painted got all sorts of tiny chips in them.
A sidenote, I had a coupon for $15.00 off a purchase of $100.00 or more from a Subaru dealer. So I ordered the side skirts and when I picked them up they cashier gave me 15% off instead. It worked out to be about $35.00 off so they were about $195.00.

Exactly. I think I'd rather spend an extra 100 bucks or so and get exactly what I want without the hassle.
Thanks for all the info everyone!

Just wanted to give this thread a bump to see if anyone has recently found a good deal on painted OEM sideskirts. I too want the silver weather strip.

I too am still in the search for a good deal, since I haven't ordered them yet. I plan on ordering in the next week or so. The best deal I've seen so far is spi motorsports mentioned earlier in the thread. I may also check with W&L Subaru to see what kind of deal they have.

I'm still looking for a source of body colour side skirts for 04 WRX wagon just ordered. You guys who are worried about durability should get them 3M taped, which I'm gonna do to some surfaces of my car including the skirts since from reading this site the factory paint seems to be kinda weak. Belvista.

I got mine from the STi/SPT shootout thingee that W&L Subaru was holding for about $170. Unfortunately, their promotion is long since over...

Nope I'm going to call them first, but will most likely end up going with SPI. Their site just came up again today, and the skirts are now listed at $208. In the shipping block it says $0, but I find it hard to believe they are $208 shipped? I'll check into it further and post again.
