I say go for black man! APS FMIC are the only ones that comes factory black already. If you want the silver ones, might as well go for the greddy one in the first place.

Hugh, remember, its what you really really want! Do not care too much about what others like. It would suck if you choose one color, drive it for a few weeks then realised that you actually like the other - and then you regret. Its ok to regret if its your own choice and mistake, but to regret for some decision which is not even yours - man that would suck.

Jin, I enjoy learning from your modding experiences and listening to your opinions. I decided to go with the Black Core. I never intended my car to be flashy or to stand out. I want a nice clean car that looks like it could have been bought that way from the dealer (in Japan, version 7 sti). After careful inspection a true enthusiast can appreciate my setup and goals. Actually I was thinking about sending the DR500 core off to Swain to get it coated with BBE. It'll match the black wheels I hope to get soon.
The silver is nice, because it doesn't show scratches. If I'm not mistaken, APS has stopped selling the balck cores because they get scratched up and look like poo afterwards. I believe the Swain BBE will stand up to more abuse.

hey hugh, i was gonna do the black, but i think i am gonna go with silver. such a big choice. the only thing i got to decide now is which one to get. i am lookin at greddy, hks, and blitz.

couldnt you get the silver and then paint it black later? this way if you dont like the silver, you could paint it. if you get the black core, what are you going to do if you dont like it? i would get black personally. im not too much on the blang blang tip.

What lips are those first 2? I'm giong to pick one up and modify it to fit my wagon :D The fitment of the Black lower lip looks a tad better IMO. I.E. not 2 pieces like the car with the silver FMIC.

The car with the silver FMIC is mine. The lip is an STI V2. It is two pieces with a little "STI" sticky to fit inbetween. The lip is very strong and will not bend to fit around the bumber skin like the one piece replicas. It is installed in two pieces because of this.
That said, if I ever manage to break it -I've bashed it a dozen times or so, I'll get one of those 1 piece CF replicas to replace it.

...but paint an intercooler? The APS anodized black is one thing, but I don't think you'd wanta coat a heat exchanger with paint.
