WRX wood dash kit

Wondering? Is there a LHD equivalent for this?

Lord, I hope not!

j/k, Sam. There is, I believe, a stick-on faux wood kit, but it's not as extensive as what you show.

Certainly its a matter of taste, maybe cultural style. Wood finish dash was standard on UK Prodrive Impreza unti New Age, I think, now its an option on it. Some people like the neo-japanese look, some people prefer a more traditional sports-car look, I think.

WOW... I so would NEVER have bought the car if the interior looked like that  .
BUT if thats YOUR 'thang', then take a look at the topic about Aluminum interior trim - usually its the same companies that make the AL as also make the wood (ugh) stick-on pieces. Either way, its still just stick on, NOT pull parts, so it would just be covering up the trim as much as possible, but Im sure the silvery finish would still show through in some spots.

Thanks anyway guys, for the free bumps, anyway, yes I know about sticky tape stuff that isn't hard to find, I'm looking if there is a LHD wood trim kit and if anybody stateside carries it. This is real trim, not sticky tape. See: http://www.japanparts.com/New_web/SUBARU/ImprezaGG_GD/ExInterior/Interior.htm

Looks nice... IN A CADILLAC!!!!
Sam2 03-20-2002 05:26 PM

Whatever, I guess you don't see many Jaguar's, BMW 7-Series, etc, in your hood.
I do in mine.

check....

woodtrim.com

or

miratrim.com

I think wood trim has genuine wood trim. miratrim just has simulated.

Damn that is nasty!

If you wanted to compare to "Jaguar's, BMW 7-Series, etc" then you sure bought the wrong car. If it helps you out though, MOMO has a real nice wood shifter under it's sphere line. But I still don't think it looks right in this car. I think there is a commercial for a Rex that says blahblah leather and wood trim, buy a recliner...

Okay, lots of web searchingt through u-stick-em dash board junk, (wood or metal, your choice of stick-on-junk), I find thia place which does real wood and veneer dashboards for a reasonable price.

http://www.maderaconcepts.com/

I'm going to give them a call.

Maybe I can find an I-club member in Santa Barbara, CA to stop and inspect the product.

If anybody else reading this might be interested in really real wood veneer dash, email me.

(btw, my other car is already a Jaguar, the Subie is my practical car... but practical doesn't need mean boring).

 right...
MightyWRX02 03-21-2002 12:03 AM

That's a pretty ugly dash kit.
DuckWRX 03-21-2002 12:49 AM

IMO wood trim looks ugly in any car. I don't care if it is a Suby with stick on fake wood or a Benz with factory wood.

We have a customer with the wood trimmed WRX, and it looks very good. Definitely easy on the eyes when you get in. It is relaxing. I wouldn't put the wood trim in with tons of gadgets, and guages. It does look nice, and like I said, makes for a more relaxing drive.

Relaxing drive you say? I didn't buy my WRX for a relaxing drive!

Interesting (or maybe not). To me, sports car driving, one-with-the-machine and 'in the zone', not thinking just doing it, is very unwinding and relaxing. Especially on a closed track where can get into a rythm of the road. Anyway, bump, bump, email me if interested please.

Here is the LHD kit from Europe. Enjoy!

Cofusion 03-21-2002 08:50 PM

It looks nice but not sure if i would get it.
push2 03-22-2002 12:05 AM

I'd get it if had lether. I was actually looking for a set but thought lether would be the only way to compliment it.:( I think that it would give the interior a little more attetion.:D
scotto 03-22-2002 03:28 AM

How about a wood Defi gauge hood? That's a bit much making the whole console wood. Here and there might work.
MrSwede 03-22-2002 10:23 AM

It is awful! And a sin. And that is not an opinion but the truth: "Thou shalt not put wood trim in your Impreza or I shall visit thee with forty-nine plagues" (Hezekiah 4:23).

Good find. So, I wonder... if we tell'em it's genuine Swiss STi Prodrive accessory... then like they'll say "oh how cool it is" and how they "just have to have it" ?

SuperRuWRX 03-22-2002 08:46 PM

Great Link Sam2.
Spooled 03-22-2002 09:52 PM

Wood dash kits look like @$$ in my opinion, even on luxury cars. And on a sporty car such as the subie, it looks even worse. But keep in mind that it's my opinion. :)
Sam2 03-22-2002 10:08 PM

We all got our own tastes. For me, those WRC sidebody decals are the world's biggest ugliest bumperstickers.

This message board makes me notice .. when somebody's young, they most care that other people like their car, when you get older, you most care that YOU like your car, I think....
Hazdaz 03-23-2002 08:53 AM

SAM2:... I disagree with your last statement there. I totaly could care less what other people think about my car or just about any other thing really. I have ALWAYS hated ANY kind of wood in a car - and even before Aluminum and CF and other 'finishes' became popular (fairly recently).
My thinking is that besides lookin BAD (and even WORSE if its PLOOD -Plastic wOOD), Wood had had NOTHIGN to do with carrs for decades. Afterall, its not like cars are made of wood anymore (I think back in the days, some stuff on cars actually used real wood). So I think that wood and cars have NOTHING to do with eachother. (I also think the same about TVs and other electronics and Wood - yuck... while furniture on the other hand has always traditionally been made of wood ,and that usually looks nice).
So I really don't think its fair to say that young people are influenced by their piers any more than old people. If anything I think young people are a lot more creative - thus different - than old people which I always see doing the exact same thing (go into a Mcdonalds at 10am, and you'll see 50 old people drinking either 25-cent coffees; or drive by a church on Sunday, and tell me what age-group the majority of the pople are; same goes for golfcourses or any local Bingo tourniment).

Does anyone have pictures of carbon fibre kits that DON'T  look like they were made by their five year old son

If so, who are they from ???
Skylab 06-13-2002 07:07 PM

If the car has a wood trim option, where's the white leather to accompany it? I sat in the optioned out Outback w/leather and wood trim, and it looked top quality. However, I believe in the picture above, it's not the wood that looks bad, it's the cloth seats that are nasty.

*My RS has leather*

Good CF kit

I am also wondering about a decent CF trim kit. Something like the wood kit, except with good fitting REAL carbon fibre. Anyone know of a kit like that?
kenchan 06-13-2002 11:30 PM

in a leather trim with climate control, MAYBE. wood trims are what belongs in my modded infiniti G20 with a nakamichi sound system. not in my modded wrx.
TerenceT 06-14-2002 05:11 AM

wood trim does not equal dash rattle...nor gauges...

i would think if the oem dash has a darker color, it might fly, otherwise, greyish plasticy dash and wood doesn't do it for me

how about a Nardi hardwood handle steering wheel?
