Xenon Retroed headlights 02 WRX
Finally put it in my car yesterday and got some pics out today...
No wall shots because I had to drive 15 minutes outa my way yesterday to find a decent aiming spot and I forgot my camera ... theyre aimed upwards a bit but my car is dropped too so it evens out I guess, lol...

Personally I'm really happy with the way it turned out

Lemme know what you guys think

Theyre e46 (bosch bi xenon) projectors with mercedes sl shrouds
txl146 08-07-2005 08:30 PM

they look great. Where did you get the kit? also, how can make ensure that it won't blind off other oncoming cars?
Mulder 08-07-2005 08:50 PM

That's not a kit. They're OEM HID projector units from an E46 BMW, so as long as they are aimed properly they will work as well as they did in that vehicle.
Handsdown 08-07-2005 08:53 PM

i want to say that looks good, but i can't.

i think what you have there is the ultimate function over form!

:o
I think it looks a lot better than the stock headlights... makes it much more agresive looking too IMO...

like Mulder said it's not a kit, I pieced the parts together and put it all in.

Woot just seated my retro onto my housing just need to wire. If you wanna know more on retrofitting go to hidplanet.com

edit: oh yeah forgot to add if you want it not to blind people just make sure you have 0 rotation when you cut up your lights, also when you mount it to bugeye reflectors you can use the stock aiming screws.
itjustWoRX 08-08-2005 12:30 AM

i like it a lot. dude, it almost looks like a human eyeball.

very nice job!

whoa sweet!!, you should paint everything else black and leave that silver
subaru mike 08-08-2005 03:51 PM

It looks pretty goodI would match that with the bug eye tint.
WRXDriftR 08-08-2005 07:37 PM

looks kinda unfinished???
sweetrex 08-08-2005 09:23 PM

they dont hit the headlight hole quite right.
stylin525 08-09-2005 12:01 AM

yup
Black housing, and you are set!! woot
Blue Rabbit 02 08-09-2005 03:35 AM

if you dont mind me asking, what's a setup like that run?
CalcVictim 08-09-2005 11:21 AM

very nice, how long did the project take?
ptirmal 08-09-2005 05:44 PM
looks kinda unfinished???
How so?
they dont hit the headlight hole quite right.
Not quite sure what you mean? The shrouds were a tough fit though. I couldnt have the projector dead center because of the way the exit hole in the rear of the housing is, and i didnt wanna cut the back
Black housing, and you are set!! woot
I had the black housing headlights before, I wanted this setup to look more OEM, I still have the old set actually
if you dont mind me asking, what's a setup like that run?
I had these on my old car, I removed it all prior to selling it... I would guesstimate I spent around $400 + the extra set of headlights I bought off ebay... I got it all cheap though
very nice, how long did the project take?
About a week, I work and go to college so I didn't have much time...
o2sys 08-09-2005 06:35 PM

WOW now the bug eyes literally looks like it really has eyes!
popnfresh 08-09-2005 06:44 PM

azimiut 08-09-2005 09:18 PM

vortectoy 08-10-2005 04:50 PM

???
Where did you get the projectors for the lights? How hard was is it to get the lights into the stock housings? What all is needed for this mod? I really dont know that much on HID lights. Just that JDMs are expensive and aftermarket kits suck. I might consider doing something like this. Also, this mod does make the correct pattern for the HID correct?? It doesnt shine light everywhere like aftermarket stuff?? Thanks
dchou 08-10-2005 08:15 PM

vortectoy - all your answers are here: http://www.hidplanet.com/forums
They have a University Section that has how-to's and ton's of info on doing a retro including a for sale section to buy all the supplies you need.

wagin 08-11-2005 03:47 PM

lexington-- those are some of the nicest retro's I've seen--excellent work -Do you have any close ups?
ZoomnWRX 08-11-2005 04:07 PM

Looks like johnny 5 to me!!

azimiut 08-11-2005 04:17 PM

the beam pattern on mine are the exact same as it would be on the audi I took the projectors from.

and since I did not want the projectors open, I cut and trimmed the original lens from the headlights, they were only slightly damaged. then I glued them onto the outside of the headlight housing. it is a perfect fit.
