yellow fog light bulbs?
Anyone know if there are any yellow bulbs that will fit in our fog lights? I don't mean yellow like more yellow than white, rather, yellow like the ones on a Lexus IS.

If i can recall...WRX's use H-3 bulbs....on my RS i use H-3 Piaa Crystal Ion....yellows....it's pretty nice and bright....gives u a yellow front path...but from some corners it's sorta white...now the IS300's are more of a smaller fog lights....so the beam is more...focused and looks more yellow.. Sorry have no pix...yet i can try to get a pix of my...fogs for YA!!!:D

I've been wondering this too. I saw a pic. of some guy that put a yellow film over the fog light, looked good.

i know what you are looking for...
Yellow Star / Max Yellow is the only one who makes yellow bulbs
but they don't make H3
your only choice is to use yellow stage lighting gel to wrap the fog light
or go to art store and buy stain glass spray paint

That yellow gel mod looks perfect, but how was it done? I didn't see instructions on that link. Any ideas?

| TerenceT | 08-12-2002 06:33 PM |
go to lighting place, i.e. lamp plus or art store
ask for Yellow Gel 02 <-- if i remember correct
or you can buy them online for a like 50 cents a piece (5 bucks shipping :D )
you should/will change them out every two months or so cuz they get filthty with dirt and stuffs
i took the fog out, wrap the front, make it as flat as possible, then bunch up the back and tape it down
lights came out perfect yellow

another way to do it is to
1 ) use yellow tint (from rice shop?) to tint the glass
or
2 ) get the stone guard plastic piece, dye /spray paint stain glass yellow and stick it on
haven't tried either one of these tho

Painting a bulb will reduce the light output, the dichroic coating on these shine yellow w/ no reduction in output:

I put these in my Audi and they don't have a very yellow output. Good price though.
Fogs are on the bottom.

yellow foglight overlays from headlightarmor.com

the overlays weren't that yellow using regular h3bulbs, so I got some yellow h3 bulbs and now it looks "JDM" yellow at night

++++++1 for the hellas. i went through TWO pairs of PIAA ion crystals at i think 50 a pair or something in about 1.5 years?? What a ripoff, then i came across the hellas. I bought 3 for 15 bucks from rallylights and they've been golden ever since and i haven't had to replace one yet.

i have the yellow foglight film from hotsubaru.com. Cheaper than bulb replacements and they appear yellow even when not on. you cant lose! :)

Anyone know where to get the yellow capsules that fit in the fog light housings? I haven't tried a Lexus dealer yet though.

Wow, I didn't notice the thread's start date until you guys pointed it out. Nice. ;)

I prefer it to look clear when the lights are off, and then yellow when they're on. I'm using PIAA plasma ion yellow bulbs.

osram H3 yellows are what i have. to be honest the PIAA ones are more yellow because my friend has them in his MSP but i'm still happy with the way mine look.

Be careful with the bulbs you buy, I had a set of yellow bulbs in my fogs on my 04 sedan and they melted the connector. Thankfully they didn't start a fire.

I bought hi-intensity 100W headlights for my car off ebay, big mistake
Melted the connector, luckly I was able to scrape out the residue and make it work again
So make sure whatever bulbs you get for your fogs are the right wattage

I used the yellow ricer tint... I felt like an a$$ buying it, but it looked amazing. Just like a Lexus IS. Just gently apply the sticky side to the lense via a hairdryer from about a foot away and s r e t c h it out a lil bit... I'll see if I can find a pic of it.
