Haha i have the same setup that you do! (except that my rex is an 04)

I found that wiring the gauges in this location was stupidly easy (like 15 minutes tops) what about you?

Yes, I just cut the clock wires and used them. The instructions from Prosport had me wire the green/white lighting backwards the first time. :unamused: lame.

But, it was easily fixed.

That looks really good! Are those 52mm in an OEM pod? How do you like them? Is the backlighting pretty good?
mcwc 01-22-2010 12:51 PM
That looks really good! Are those 52mm in an OEM pod? How do you like them? Is the backlighting pretty good?
Yup, those are 52mm gauges in an OEM gauge pod. I picked up a gauge plate for a Mk.4 VW. I like the fact that the plate is designed for these gauges and the gauge bezel sits flush against the plate. This allowed me to have the gauge plate sit right behind the gauge pod opening so I didn't have to hack up the pod.

I'm quite happy with the VDO gauges as I've have them in my Volvo and they work quite well. As for the lighting, the boost gauge is a tad brighter but that's probably due to the fact that there's more translucent gauge numbering for the light to come through. They are still very easy to read at night without blinding me.

Awesome, these were the gauges I was looking at purchasing because they closely match the oem colors. Where did you get the boost gauge? I searched around and the ones for sale aren't as precise as that one, they just do every 5 lbs.

I bought my gauges, LED bulbs, and panel from 42draftdesigns.

BTW, if you are planning to use the same gauge panel as I did, you'll have to modify it a tad because the panel is longer than the space allowed by Subaru.

200 for a simple piece of plastic???? are they that dumb?

I would never pay that much for a piece of plastic!

I'd rather just build my own and call it a day.

I do like the idea but the angling of the pod is fail, should be up a little more for easier viewing. I might have to take this idea and refine it some more. could possibly turn out to be a really good pod with some minor modifications to the concept. well major modification about the only thing that will be similar is the part of the dash that it attaches to. lol. lol, I'm going to end up having to make a full mold of the interior of the car. this will end up taking an entire weekend to just make the negative of the dash system and then probably a month to make the positive so that I can begin working on the rest.

I got some performance ones (not the premiums) and been hearing bad things about them.
