Think about flipping that intake manifold at all? Not that your bay is cluttered or messy at all, but would get rid of that long intercooler pipe.

Power steering resevoir relocation. I haven't found anything about where people put it and how. I know it's been done and discussed in this thread, but I don't want to comb through every post. The cleaner the better, but not to much work. Same with washer fluid resevoir? I'm not going to shave and tuck my whole bay, but want to get a few things done while my engine is out. I'm sure I'll come up with more thoughts. Car will be more or less dd, but I like things clean and orderly. I want to ultimately paint the bay, coupe imperfections and the black on the bottom irks me. Also, passenger side strut tower, what's that horn looking thing? Not digging it there and would love to remove it. 2004 wrx

If you want clean and easy check out the ChaseBays power steering reservoir relocation Kit. Comes with all braided lines and a nice reservoir. I mounted mine on the side of my radiator.

Checked it out, and only saw a replacement, not a relocation kit. Description said it mounts in the oem location, and the mount is unadjustable...doesn't look like it's gonna do me, or did you put it on the support the radiator rests on? Also, any thoughts on that horn looking thing I mentioned in my previous post?

Im running that exact Kit I just honestly have it ghetto zip tied around the headlight bezzle next to the rad. You could even cut off the mounting bracket and just do what you want with it. It comes with plenty of braided, line to put it where you want. Well worth it and easy install.
As for the horn looking thing not positive but I think its some type of airbag sensor or crash sensor. I just till it out

For those that don't daily drive you can probably just delete power steering all together. Not the easiest since you gotta remove the rack...but it completely eliminates the pump, lines and reservoir.
Just something to consider.
I did it to my '01 Impreza that I daily, and it's not bad at all....but I think most of you guys have 02+ wrx/sti's which are much heavier.

I daily drove a talon with no abs, no ac, no heat, and power steering for years. I live in Utah so I had 100+ summers and sub freezing winters. All depends on what you can endure. :)
Oh and I just ripped all the lines out and looped the two lines together. No rack removal at all.

It's just best to drain the rack of PS fluid, pull the pinion and "fill" with some nice grease...like wheel bearing grease.
Makes steering effort lower since there's no fluid fighting you...but yeah not 100% necessary.

Kinda funny that would put a crash sensor that far back, but if it isn't gonna affect me, I'll just pull it

Looking at in line fuel filter from aeromotive, and they have orb-10 and an-10 fittings on the filters. What's the difference, and which is factory, or do I have to adapt either way? I'm not going to ever supercede the capabilities of the factory fuel system so my future needs shouldn't play a role in which one, correct?

All the wires disconnect in one form or another. Some have clips like any other connection, others have clips you need a screwdriver carefully for, and two just slide out. I didn't pay attention to wire colors when I relocated mine, so I'm not sure what you two are talking about, but I hope this helps!

There are multiple white thick wires within that harness. You should be able to get it apart with a 10mm socket and a pick. The most of it is together with just side clips. They're hard to see but if you look close you'll find them.

Abs relocation under the fender. Where did you run your lines? That's the one thing keeping me from doing it. I can't find a path that keeps them clear of the bay and protects them. The chase bays kit is for abs deleting, which I would rather not do if I can avoid it since it's gonna be a mostly dd with some showing. I have no problem running hand bent lines, I have a flaring tool, however I don't want to jeopardize my line safety, and I want to minimize the amount if lines in my bay. If it's easiest to delete my abs, so be it. Learned to drive on a car with no abs, and, knock on wood, haven't needed it for an actual braking emergency. My biggest concern about deleting it all together, other then always having that risk of needing it, is the abs light and inspection.

I have the ChaseBays Kit with wilwood master cylinder to delete the brake booster and love it. The abs is possible under the fender but without is way cleaner. For a dd I would delete abs but not brake booster. ChaseBays Kit has been redone and the indash Kit I ran fit pretty easily with no modification.

The first line comes out of the master straight down to a t that goes to the drivers front brake and also into the firewall, then it runs to a proportioning valve that splits to 2 lines under the dash by your pedals. From there both lines run across under the dash to the passenger side under the glove box. Then one will go out the firewall straight down to the pass front brake and the other line splits into 2 and connects to the rear 2 lines at the passenger front door under the carpet which are stock hard lines you just flare into. Its a nice simple Kit to install way better than bending lines and looks clean. They have the install guide on their website

How is everyone running with wiring on the drivers side that plugs into the engine harness? I have everything pulled into the fender but haven't seen how everyone is doing that part of the wiring.

I don't have pics, but I pulled the wires through the fender liner and tucked them down under my headlight and across that way. Grounding wires were a small pain, but that wasn't too bad either. If I was that anal about it, I would have gotten the chase bays grounding kit. I left my battery in there, didn't want to risk messing spaying up by relocating, so I have the wires conning through for that and starter, same with my main harness and alternator. Took my windshield washer reservoir out, doing an in line fuel filter and getting the chase bays fuel line kit with a set of rails. Be pretty clean over there for a dd

But how did u run the 2 plugs that plug into the engine harness.
| hogdweeb | 07-20-2014 04:58 PM |
Still on its bracket. you're talking the brown and grey plugs behind the battery, correct? If I was better at splicing and had more faith I would have spliced my two harnesses and ran it under my headlight too

I pulled them as car as I could and ran them up underneath frame and up the side of the engine then plugged in. So my plugs are on the side if my engine kinda tucked in there

I ran the alternator the same way up and under then across

The reasons I wish I was better at splicing :(

Well this you can do with it in its just alittle tuggin on it to make it come out as far as possible then route it under next to the engine

So go under the frame rail with it?

Yeah right under where it normally went through the fender into the bay just go down and under instead and then wrap up and connect it on the side of the engine. Might have to do into the doorwell where the harness comes through and pull it further through like I did

There's enough slack in it inside the cabin to pull that much through? If so, and you can find a picture, I may just follow along with this. Despite having just those couple wires there, it's still fairly cluttered. .
